"Please go to sleep," Michael whined, covering his head with his pillow.
"I can't," Luke responded on the verge of tears.
Mike unburied himself, laying on his back. He reached over, easily pulling Luke to his side. He put his hand on the back of Luke's spine where he knew the younger was hurting. Michael rubbed the sore spot, slowly drawing circles on his bare skin.
Luke rested his head on Mike's chest, finding comfort in the skin-to-skin feeling.
Sooner than later, Michael fell asleep once more and Luke stayed wide awake. Luke put his fingertips on Michael's happy trail, tracing the brown hairs up and down, up and down, then up and down again.
He wrapped his leg around Michael's. It was comfortable until it wasn't. He moved his leg again before rolling onto his back.
He picked up the sheets, pulling them closer to his body and turning onto his left side. He moved around more, the frame underneath their two bodies squeaking.
"Luke," Michael groaned again.
"I'm sorry," he sighed.
Mike turned onto his own side, moving over until he and Luke shared the same pillow. He wrapped his arm around Luke's stomach, spooning him comfortably. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just can't sleep."
Michael nuzzled his nose into Luke's neck. Unlike Luke, it was very easy for Michael to fall asleep anywhere. "Stay real quiet, and try to focus on the waves from across the street. Can you hear them?"
Luke closed his eyes, trying to listen closely. He could hear them, it sounded like a distant thunderstorm. Even though he knew it wasn't, he could feel a pit of fear in his stomach.
He wouldn't admit he was afraid of storms, either.
"I don't like it."
"Okay," Michael's raspy voice said, "Focus on something else. Just let your mind rest of the night."
Luke could feel Michael breathing in and our against his back. He could feel his warm stomach making a constant rhythm and Luke tried to focus on it. His mind ran wild and as Michael was so close to sleeping once again, Luke made no progress.
He moved his body again and Michael gave up. He squeezed Luke's skin, pulling him back to their original spooning position. "What's on your mind, Peach? Something is bothering you."
Luke shrugged, he scooted backwards, trying to find comfort in burying himself in Michael's embrace. "Everything."
"Is it the baby? Your parents?"
"Everything," he repeated, slowly becoming aggravated.
"Do you wanna talk about it all?"
He shrugged, and Michael took that as a yes.
Mike rolled onto his back, he went back to his side of the bed and pulling the blankets to his chest. He let out a sigh and rubbed at his eyes, trying to wake himself up. "Okay, well, we have a few options."
Luke rolled the other way, now facing his boyfriend. He looked up at him with patient eyes.
"We can go back home to Missouri, you can live with me, and we can raise the baby. We need to stay close with your parents, Boo. You're their son, I can't just take you from them."
"I know."
"If you don't want that, then we could go back to Missouri, and you could live with your parents. We'd make it work some—."
"No, I don't want that," Luke interrupted.
"Okay, that's okay." Michael let his arm lay flat as Luke took that signal to come cuddle. He pulled himself to Michael's chest, resting his head on his soft chest once more. "I could resign back home, and we could stay here. I could find a job around here and we could get a place here. We'd raise It over here and it'd be alright."
"I want to live with you back home."
Michael let out a sigh of relief, he was glad Luke liked his favorite plan. "Me, too. We can go home soon and talk it out with your parents like adults, okay? We're both adults and we need to deal with this situation like adults, too."
Luke nodded. He wrapped his arms around Michael's torso, holding him. "I can do that."
"I'll be with you no matter what happens," Michael promised for the millionth time.
"I know, Mikey.
"Never forget that." He rubbed his hands up and down Luke's back. "We're going to be okay. You, me, and It."
Luke smiled within a yawn. He cuddled closer to Michael, entwining their legs. He held him close, and fell asleep fast.
Michael was surprised at how much a simple talk could solve.
