This was stupid. Utterly stupid. Blatantly idiotic. I didn't want to be here.

But despite my thoughts, here I was, sat in Ellis' garage in some sort of triangle on the floor, a pumpkin and a bowl of candy in the centre of us. It was Halloween - a festive... one day holiday to remember the dead, or something... by going around getting candy from strangers. People decorate their homes with foolish creepy things and carve pumpkins. It's stupid and pointless, yet I was dragged here by Ellis to celebrate it. With Ferris.

Ferris apparently came because of me, or else he wouldn't have come. He and Ellis seemed to continue to have the still, hate-like tension... though Ellis invited him anyway.

My mother had been ecstatic with the fact I was leaving the house for Halloween so that she could take Logan around to trick-or-treat.

Ellis clapped his hands. 'Oh, I'm excited!'

'I want to go home,' I frowned.

'I'm here for Robin,' said Ferris. 'I'm hoping we're not all having to hold hands and summon Satan or something. Unless Robin wants to, of course!' He smiled.

I sighed. '... Wouldn't it be illegal to summon Satan anyways?'

'True, true,' Ellis nodded. 'Luckily that was not in the regimen of tonight's plans. Tonight we're going to be carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating and having a little party later on tonight!'

'Don't you need scary costumes to trick-or-treat?' Ferris asked, tilting his head. 'Maybe you've forgotten.'

'Hm... You're right,' Ellis looked down. 'We'll just eat the candy I've coincidentally provided beforehand.'

'You're an idiot,' I commented. 'Can we just stop and go home? It's stupid and boring, and I don't wanna get my hands dirty.'

Ferris chuckled.

'... With the pumpkin,' I turned to him.

'But I've already bought three cute pumpkins,' Ellis pouted. 'I can't carve three all to myself. That would be sad and depressing. Plus, it's better to celebrate Halloween with friends, right?'

'We're not your friends,' Ferris and I said in unison.

He hummed and looked up. 'Can we... pretend to be friends? Just for tonight? Please?'

'All right, sure,' Ferris said. 'Can we get onto carving the pumpkins? I've never carved one before.'

'I'm sure yours'll look super cute when it's done,' Ellis smiled.

'Hah, of course it will,' Ferris grinned and turned to me, shuffling a little closer. 'Robin? Can you teach me how to do it? Pretty please? I don't know how to... It's my first time...'

'Gross,' I frowned. 'I don't know how to myself. I haven't done it before either.'

Ellis flushed a light shade of pink. '... You're talking about the pumpkins... right?'

'Huh? Yeah,' I replied.

Ferris tilted his head a little. 'Then... we should do it together... since we're both doing it for the first time...'

'Ferris, I know what you're doing,' Ellis sighed, 'and I'm going to have to tell you to quit it. It's gross.'

'Okay, okay,' Ferris shuffled back. 'I'm done.'

'Now, I'll be right back,' Ellis smiled and stood. 'I'll go get the pumpkins.'

He rushed out of the garage.

'Do you think if we run out now we'll be able to get home before he gets back?' I asked.

'My home is closer... It would be easier just to head to my place,' Ferris laughed. 'You can stay over the night! Wouldn't that be fun?'
