'... No. No, no, no,' I shook my head. 'I'm not doing something that stupid.'
'Oh, come on, Robin!' My mother sighed. 'It'd be a good way to make more friends.'
I winced. 'All the more reason not to go.'
'Ellis and your other friend are going! Stop being a sour sport and go! It'll get you some more Vitamin D, too - you're too pale and gross. You need a cute tan.'
'I'm gonna throw up,' I covered my mouth with my hand and turned to the side. 'It's a school camp, mom. Dormitories. Pools. Social activities. Sun. Early bed times. The two idiots. All my worst nightmares coming true.'
'I doubt they'll have early bed times,' her hands moved to her hips and she leaned on the kitchen counter. 'You're high school students. They'll at least give you the freedom of choosing your bed time.'
I frowned. 'Okay, but - I'm not allowed to bring my phone or laptop. And Logan'll be sad without me.'
Logan opened his door from upstairs. 'Oh, yes! I will be very sad! I will cry real tears!' His words sounded forced.
'Did you make him say that so you didn't have to go?' my mother raised a brow.
'That's besides the point,' I shrugged. 'He will cry if I go.'
'It's just a week.'
'You wouldn't want both your dear children to be sad for a whole week, would you?' Logan peeped his head around the corner. 'Don't you love us?'
'Pack your bags,' my mother turned to me. 'You are going to this camp.'
[_][_][_]
'You look sad,' Ellis pointed out as I stepped out of the bus that had dropped us off at the camp. 'Are you sad?'
'I'm just peachy.'
Ferris hummed. 'Is it Ellis that's making you sad? I'll get rid of him for you!'
Ellis gasped. 'It isn't me, is it?'
'.. Please tell me I'm in different dormitories to these two,' I muttered.
The teachers waved for the group - consisting of most of the year - to gather near a big tree. We all wheeled and carried our bags over and a rather odd looking woman clapped her hands enthusiastically.
'All righty!' She shouted. 'Welcome! For the next week you're going to have the time of your lives!'
... Five seconds in and I feel my breakfast coming up.
'You'll be separated into groups,' she continued, 'and will do a variety of activities over the course of the week. Just remember - your parents paid for you to have fun! So you better have fun!'
'She's scaring me,' Ellis whispered uncomfortably.
'My name is Lindsey!' She grinned. 'Now... One thing to mention - for each group, there will be a day with no activities. Each group's day is different, so it could be today, could be tomorrow, could be the last day, even. On this day you can choose to stay in your dorms or you could hit the pool! Ah, right... There's some rules.'
I sighed. My head hurt.
'One,' she raised a finger. 'No swearing. Two, no sexual intercourse. Three, no refusing to do activities unless you are unwell or have injuries that prevent you from doing the activity. Four, girls cannot go into boys' dorms and boys cannot go into girls' dorms. Five, no littering. That's it, folks! Hope you packed suitable clothing! And, ah - we'll call out the dorm and group lists in a moment.'
