a dash of angst, mix in some fluff, and boom, Jiper.

also, i get the feeling that Jason is really similar to Percy, just more rigid. get my drift?

The camp was quiet as campers softly drifted to sleep. At eleven at night, everything was still... except a blond boy running to Cabin 10 with a six pack of coke. He crept around the sides, peeking into windows until his grin shone like a million stars.

The door cracked open, breaking the quiet. A girl, with dark braids in her hair and sleep still twisted into her eyes, slid through the opening, breaking into a run to hug the boy. They held each other, not letting go until she whispered something into his skin.

"Where to tonight, Sparky?"

He smiled and pulled away, replying, "Percy gave me some ideas." He held up the soda cans, looking a little uncomfortable breaking the rules.

They blended into the shadows, running on the edges of the forest until they reached the beach.

"Remember when I got drunk?" he thought out load, and laughed, feeling safe when the waves began crashing around them. He had always thought the sea was Percy's thing; but the rough waters and the stormy sky worked hand in hand (literally). Their parents must have been fighting.

The girl rolled her eyes. "The only thing I remember is dragging your heavy butt to your cabin." But then her eyes darkened. "Remember when it was just you, Percy, and me?" she asked quietly.

Jason nodded. "Before they fell," he confirmed, and reached for Piper's hand. "I never really caught what you had said, you know."

She couldn't help but blush. Piper knew he hadn't heard her, and she had hoped that Percy had.  But then her boyfriend's friend nearly killed himself falling into Tartarus, and her heavy words had bee n quickly left open ended.

"Coke?" Jason offered, and ripped the plastic loops around the cans.

"Yeah," she muttered, and grabbed the soda, playing with the metal top before actually opening it with a snap. "Don't you think they'll catch us someday?"

"Who?"

"I don't know," she said, but she wasn't really worried. She was just filling in the silence. "Chiron, Leo, Thalia..."

"Nah, Thalia doesn't come to Camp too often anymore. Leo, though..." He laughed, plopping down into the sand, and Piper followed. "So... what did you say?"

"What?"

"You know... when we almost drowned?"

Piper shrugged, trying to keep her heart rate normal. "I don't remember much. I think I blacked out for a little bit-"

"Didn't you kiss me?" he asked. She could hear the smile in his voice. "And then you said something, but I just... I never figured out what you said."

She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees, and turned back towards him. "I know."

Jason's confusion was obvious in his sky blue eyes.

"Do you really want to know?"

He nodded, scooting closer and putting an arm around her shoulders.

Piper could barely contain her nervousness. How could she relieve the weight constantly pressing down on her with just six words.

"Jason..." She took a deep breath. "I was scared we were going to drown in there. I said that we had to sacrifice something to live, but I didn't think we'd be sacrificing our lives."

"Pipes," he whispered into her ear.

And that was all she needed.

Piper quickly pressed her lips to his, savoring the electricity in her skin, and confided, "I told you I loved you."

Jason didn't miss a beat in their conversation. "Past tense?"

"And present," she added, and leaned into him.

He held her until the sea and the sky seemed to die down, and by the time Jason's watch beeped at midnight, they were slowly walking back to her cabin, their fingers laced together.

"Piper?" His voice broke the silence.

She looked up at him. "Yeah?"

He pulled her to a stop, cradling her cheeks with his palms. "I love you, too."

And she was at peace, because not only was he sober, but he was hers.

"I've been a liar,

and I'll never amount to the kind of person

you deserve to worship you.

You say you will not dwell on what I did

but rather what I do.

You say 'I love you

and that's what you are getting yourself into.' "
