"Welcome home, Praetor," Reyna said, her voice full and, for the first time in quite a while, happiness. She opened her arms, as if to hug him, but Jason looked away and acted as if he didn't notice.
"Same legion?" he asked quietly, watching her bright smile literally turn completely upside down.
"If you'd like," she told him, her posture straightened and formal. Then she walked away in a huff, and Octavian approached.
"So you've realized who you're loyal to, Jason?" he sneered, his lip curling with an evil smile.
Jason pushed his chest out, determined to intimidate him. "I will always be loyal to Camp Half Blood."
"TRAITOR!" Octavian screamed. "I knew it! Reyna will have to listen to me, now! You little-"
"Stop!" Reyna was suddenly at the scene, her dagger pulled out of her sheath. Her eyes, kind barely a minute ago, were fierce. "Octavian, you will not speak to your praetor like that. That is an order."
Octavian shrank into the shadows and ran off before Reyna could embarrass him any more than she already had.
"Um, thanks," Jason muttered.
"I asked you to come back to discipline him, Jason. Not to intimidate." She stormed off again, and he stood in the middle of the forum, wondering what he had done to upset her.

Piper wiped away her tears and kept her voice from trembling.
"Thanks, Beth," she said, and turned to leave the Athena cabin.
Annabeth nodded. "No problem. So do you want to hang out with us tomorrow, or...?"
"No, it's okay." Piper tried to smile. "I'm sure Percy would like you to himself."
"It's not like that, Pipes! Travis is going to be there, plus Katie, of course."
Piper laughed a little. "I wonder who's following who."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Obviously Travis."
The door opened, and Percy walked in, struggling to carry two bags of marshmallows and chocolate each and offering a huge smile.
"Hey," he started, and Annabeth caught one of the marshmallow bags before it fell. "I figured you could use some candy."
"Uh, Perce, you forgot the gram crackers," Annabeth grumbled, tearing open the candy bag.
Percy laughed. "Who needs gram crackers! Just make a chocolate sandwich."
Piper had to laugh, and not wanting to break her happy streak, she broke off a piece of chocolate and make herself a chocolate sandwich.
