Jonah keeps his eyes concentrated on my lips.
I haven't been this close to him since we were together.
I clear my throat, "Jonah."
He looks up to my eyes.
"I'm with someone else, Jonah. I'm not going to forgive you and I'm definitely not going to kiss you. Cheating was your own choice, you should've known the consequences."
I turn around, finally walking away.
~
I walk up to Jeffrey, who's still waiting to perform, "Hi babe."
"Hey Em." He kisses my cheek as he grabs my waist. "What have you been doing?"
I pause thinking about what had just happened, "I was talking to Jonah."
Jeffrey's expression changes, "Jonah? - as in Jonah, the one who cheated on you?" I nod. "How is he here?"
"I have no idea."
"What did you guys talk about?" He asks out of curiosity.
"He wanted me to forgive him."
He runs his hands to my back, hugging me, "Emily. This is your choice. You don't have to forgive him if you don't want to. He cheated on you and you have every right to hold that against him."
I hug him back, resting my chin on his shoulder, "I know."
In the corner of my eye, I see Johnson walk up to us. Jeffrey notices too then we both pull out of the hug.
Johnson greets us again, "Hello. I believe you, Jeffrey, have to be up on stage in a few."
Jeffrey nods in agreement.
Someone else walks up and inturrupts our conversation, "Hey dad."
It's Jonah.
Wtf.
How is he Johnson's son?
When we were together I actually never met his parents. I should've known, they look so much alike.
Johnson turns to Jonah then back to us, "Guys I would like you to meet my son-"
Johnson gets cut off before he can say his name when a voice yells out 'Up next is Jeffrey Miller!'
Jeffrey hugs me then turns to shakes Johnson's hand, "Thanks for the opportunity again, sir." Then shakes Jonah's - not knowing that it's Jonah, 'the one who cheated on me'.
Jeffrey doesn't know who Jonah is, just that 'Jonah' is the name of my ex.
Jeffrey runs off leaving me standing before Jonah and Johnson.
Johnson continues, "Emily, this is Jonah, my son. If you want, you can talk to him while Jeffrey's up on stage so that you have company." He turns to Jonah and tells him he'll be back and that he just has to talk to a few people first.
Jonah stands quietly as his dad walks away.
"You know you can talk, it's not forbidden. I just won't forgive you, that's all." I smile as I stand in front of him.
