Hey! Sorry this took a while it was a tricky one and I had lots of school things going on. I'm not lying this was a hard one, so I hope you guys like it. It took me about 3 drafts to find the better one I guess. So I really do hope that you like it.

What if... Stanly was never born?

Dipper POV

Ah summer break, a time for leisure, recreation, and taking her easy.... Unless you are me. Let me explain. It all began when our parents decided that we could use some fresh air. They ship us up north to a sleepy town called Gravity Falls Oregon, to stay with our Great Uncle Ford's place in the woods. It took Mom and Dad a while to convince Great Uncle Ford to take us in. Me and my sister, Mabel, were put up in the attic and really not cared for. My sister attended to look on the bright side of things but I was having a hard time getting used to our new surroundings.

Great Uncle Ford was a brilliant and wealthy man, he went to (Dream School). It is this huge school for smart people. For me I have a hard time figuring out why would he come here? A sleepy town and a billionaire? That doesn't connect to me.

Well Great Uncle Ford hasn't really paying much attention to us. He's been in his basement and hasn't really talked with us. He told us not to go to the basement or touch of any of his things...which was everything. In every room there was experiments, notes, work, books, and other things which we couldn't touch. Maybe things would have turn out better if he had a sibling closer to his age. Our grandfather was his only sibling and they are years apart...he was a baby when he was in high school.

It's been a few weeks and I've already bored out of my mind. We were unable to do anything. I tried going to town and meet with people but nothing worked out. Everyone is older...unless you are a girl...Mabel found two girls to keep her company. Their names was Candy and Grenda, they meet at the park. I got nothing. The only person I really talk to, not counting Mabel, was Ford's apprentice Ray Thompson. They meet at the school.

I always tried to ask him about what Ford was working on but he couldn't say anything. He said it was top secret and I was a young boy that wouldn't understand. I always rolled my eyes, I am a 12 year old boy but I'm not that dumb! I am really quiet smart for my young age. I just wish I could prove myself that I'm not just a little kid. Soon I'll be a 13 and I wouldn't be a kid. Maybe that could change something? Who knows what the future will hold?

I exploded around the house but the basement. I always want to know more about the basement. I always tried to get a sneak peek of the basement but they always shut me out.

Mabel tried to comfort me, which helped sometimes but after a while I gave up because there wasn't really hope. I was just going to be bored for the rest of the summer.

Mabel was doing fine...I guess. Got two friends and she was going through her boy crazy things. She was quite entertained. I was just bored out of my mind. Until one day....

I was just walking around the house, like I always do. I call it my afternoon walk. Then Ford and Ray came out of the basement, "We will be back Dipper." Ray smiled, "Can you hold the fort?" I gave a small smile. Ray tried at least to be kind and fun with me. He was at least being more kid like more than Ford. "Sure." I reply. "Come on Ray we don't have time. This could be a once in a life time chance!" Ford reply. "Yes sir!" Ray replied and they both left. I sigh. Then I looked at the basement door and saw that it was cracked opened. Usually it was locked.

Go down there! This could be a once in a life time chance to see what Ford and Ray are really working on. They do their main experiments down in the basement.
