well I've been talking alot, i'm not saying much of anything.

it was the night of gavin's halloween party and calum had come over to luke's with their costumes.

"really cal? mario and luigi?" luke laughed, looking at his mario costume then up at calum who was already dressed for the occasion.

he nodded and smiled like a little kid, "mario and luigi were the greatest duo to ever be created, of course we're going as them. now... get your gear on, i'm tired of being sober"

luke walked into his restroom and changed in there, still not being comfortably naked around calum.

once he was out they walked downstairs and grabbed luke's house keys, being that his mom was out at a family party so he needed keys to get into his house.

they got into calum's truck and drove off to the party.

they nodded their heads to the sounds of blink-182 and arrived to the party. there were already drunk teens sprawled around the lawn and broken bottles everywhere. it was barely 12:09 a.m.

walking into the house they were greeted by some of their classmates, there were even people saying hi to luke that he never knew. loud music was being blasted through the speakers and they were handed red solo cups. luke took small sips of the clear liquid, reminding himself not to get too fucked up because he had named himself the designated driver for the night.

as the night went on there were people walking in and out of gavin's house, many drunk fights, many people puking and many people dancing the night away.

calum and luke were currently talking to a group of girls, by the way they giggled and blushed at everything the two boys said, they seemed like freshmen at their first high school party. they took no thought to it and calum ended up dancing with one of them, leaving luke alone with a brunette.

"so.." she started off, "i was meaning to tell you this when we first talked but i think you're really cute"

he smiled softly and let out a chuckle, "thanks babe, you're not too bad yourself", jesus, did luke wish he had better flirting skills.

"do you want to go upstairs?" she finally asked.

"what? no"

"why not?" she said clearly upset.

luke sighed, "look, i didn't mean to come off as rude but i'm looking for a little more than just sex", it was the truth. luke had his fair share of hookups and one night stands. he wasn't looking for that anymore. with that he walked off. not wanting to be left in an awkward situation.

he walked into the backyard which was surprisingly way less crowded than inside. he sat on the grass and let out a sigh. pondering his thoughts.

i mean sure, sex is great and all, who was luke to deny he loved sex? but he grew up, he knew there was something more than just sex, he was at an age where he just wanted someone to spend his future with and someone who will always be there for him even when times get rough. he wanted to feel the warmth and secure of their arms, share random kisses all the time, and actually see himself getting married to that person. maybe he was thinking too ahead, or maybe he was just ready for it. he wanted to love and be loved. something he had never really thought about till right now.

as he was thinking, a figure sat right beside him.

"hey there mario"

he knew that beautiful silky voice all too well.

luke laughed and turned to michael, "calum forced me to wear this, don't judge me"

the boy smiled so beautifully, "i wasn't making fun of you, it's cute that you're matching with him. you make a cute mario"

he was drunk, luke knew it by the smell of alcohol mixed with cigarettes in his breath.

"you're drunk michael" luke said giving him a soft look.

"drunk words are sober thoughts", michael said scooting closer to luke and slightly bumping his shoulder against his.

luke rolled his eyes, feeling the heat in his cheeks rise. there was no doubt that his cheeks were red but michael wouldn't remember it in the morning.

he watched michael look up and watch the stars gleaming in the sky. the moonlight hitting his pretty face, making it glow slightly, delicately.

"what do you thinks out there? beyond the stars and planets and asteroids" he asked luke. "there's so much more out there but we're cowards who are just afraid of what really is there. there's no way we're the only living species in this galaxy" michael scoffed.

"it's like love, we're so afraid to fall in love yet we don't know what love really is".

it was at that point that luke noticed just how beautiful michael really was. his pale porcelain skin, his emerald green eyes that held so much emotion in them, his mesmerizing pink lips, his little smile, even in his drunken state he was the most beautiful person luke had ever met. drunk michael had such beautiful words to say but luke will always love sober michael just a little more.

michael turned and smiled softly at luke, the blonde boy smiling back. they sat there in silence, staring and examining each other, simply enjoying each others company.

luke's heart began racing as michael started leaning in slowly, but he didn't back away. instead he stood still, wondering if this is what michael really wanted or if it was just drunk actions.

their lips were just centimeters away, luke could feel the drunk boy's warm breath fanning over his own.

he couldn't comprehend what was going on at the moment, but all luke wanted at that moment was to feel michael's lips against his own.

instead, michael turned his head slightly and pressed a gentle kiss against luke's cheek. he then leans his forehead against they young boy's.

"you're great you know that? no ones ever listened to what i have to say before. everyone runs away from me or leaves me alone but you haven't and it just means the world to me. i may never admit that to you when i'm sober but whatever i'm saying right now is the truth"

luke smiled and looked at michael. "it's no problem michael", he laid his head on the boys shoulder.

michael ran his fingers through luke's hair. savoring the moment because michael knew that when he wasn't drunk anymore he wouldn't have the courage to do these things with luke.

he whispered into the blonde's ear quietly, "by the way, you really do look cute tonight"
