Onyx p.o.v

Since birth I've been an orphan so being taken right off the playground at the age of eleven didn't really make much a difference. The people I got kidnapped by were in no way normal, they weren't even human they were vampires, and by the age of twelve I had been sold into the slave trade. After a while you get used to beatings and the verbal abuse but the one thing that you never get used to is being alone. At the age of fifteen I chose to stop speaking I became what some refer to as mute. So far I have had three masters the first was as worse as the last. Today I get a new master this one will be my last. This one will be my permanent one for the rest of my life.

At the auction house I was shoved forward by the burly guard. I stumbled onto the hard cement floor, only to be yanked back up and prodded to the stage. Keeping my gaze low and trained on the ground I fidgeted with the chain cuffs on my wrist. It would be a lie if I didn't say I wasn't nervous but hey, can you blame me? I was currently wearing an oversized shirt that went an inch above my knees. My dark brown hair that had once been short as a child was now at my waist, hanging in waves covering half my face, which thanks to the guard was sporting a bruise adorned with a split lip that bloomed across my cheekbone, who relished in others pain.

Listening to the bids they climbed from a mere two thousand dollars to thirty thousand. At the last second a deep rich voice called out "forty thousand", searching the crowd it belonged to one of the younger looking vampires. His marine blue an algae colored eyes twinkling with curiosity in the dim lighting. From what I could see his hair was a dark brownish black, which seemed ruffled as if he had run his hands through it several times. Sending me a quick wink I trained my gaze back onto the floor, as I was taken into the back waiting rooms.

No less than fifteen minutes later I was collected by my new master and taken to his waiting car in the parking garage, no words exchanged along the way but then again no vampire master expected you to talk unless spoken to. Stopping our journey at a fairly expensive vehicle he climbed in, looking the car over I gave him a questioning look as if he really thought I was going to just climb in, I mean I was in no way shape or form the cleanliest person on earth right now. I had sat in a dirty metal cell for the past week without being able to shower once, unless you want to call getting an ice cold bucket of water poured over you a shower sure, definitely a shower a very frigid one at that.

"Are you going to get in or are you going to stand there like a scientist studying a bug?" leaning over the middle consol he gazed at me with a bit of worry. Nodding my head I complied, letting his gaze linger my way he broke the silence "so I'm guessing you don't speak much huh?" shaking my head I watched the scenery pass, then sudden realization crossed him face "oh your-" pausing for a second I nodded in compliance with what he was about to say. Instead of pressing the issue he let the conversation drop, turning into the drive of a largely expansive house, he cut the engine and got out.

Leading me inside a middle aged Jamaican woman wearing a cooking apron approached us "Darn time you got here, thought I would have to send out a search party for ya" her accent was thick and compassionate, instantly I knew she would take a certain parental role in my life. Seeming unsure of his words he introduced us "Onyx, I would like you to meet Ezmerelda, the house's-" cutting him off mid-sentence she grasped me in a warm hug, smelling heavily of citrus. It was at that time my stomach decided to growl loudly with hunger. "No time for the formalities Jace your starving the poor girl" scolding him she lead me to the kitchen which connected to a dining room, placing me to sit on the bar she slid down a bowl of soup that was filled with shrimp, rice, and vegetables. She had given me food, real food no slave gunk, slave food looked nothing like this usually we got a small ration of bread and half a bowl of something that resembled oatmeal.

Motioning to my food she passed me a spoon and a glass of something that was in a red can "well, go on, eat", being told no more I hungrily ate. Spooning the last drop, I nodded my head grateful for the food, and with that my tour with Jace continued. Stepping into the room I would be staying in I gaped. The only words I can use are beautiful yet intricate .The four poster king sized bed that had gold and blue satin linens, took up the left corner of the room and other furniture adorned the rest of the room. The walk in closet with mirrors was half filled with simple clothes such as jeans and shirts that were close to my size.

A window seat sat below the window pane, which viewed the gardens below it. Looking in the connected bathroom there was a basic sliding door shower with a light gold trim and adjacent to it was a marble topped sink with a commode. Stepping into steaming shower, I let the warmth relax my stiff muscles, I scrubbed away the dirt. I couldn't even remember the last time I actually had a warm shower or even I had been treated nicely. Sifting through the clothes I pulled on some stretchy jeans and a mid-sleeve gray tee, I navigated my way downstairs I searched for an office of some sort.

Stopping at a large mahogany door I rapped my knuckles against it, peeking inside he beckoned me in further. Shutting the door behind me I timidly ventured up to his desk, shuffling some papers around he addressed me. Briefly glancing at his desk I didn't see anything that was a tell tale that he was busy. Keeping my gaze low in respect he addressed me "you must be looking for your chores" pausing briefly he snapped his fingers "free day" giving him a puzzled look I raised an eyebrow "I haven't had time to, organize your schedule yet, so feel free to roam" bowing my head I silently dismissed myself, wandering around aimlessly I stumbled upon the gardens. Gazing around I sat on the marble stone bench, I internally ranted to myself. What the hell did he mean a free day? Pushing it to the back of my mind I gazed around, kneeling I pulled up the stray weeds from around the hibiscus and rosebushes, to keep my hands distracted and my mind busy.
