I didn't start the fire, Jace piled wood and it got higher

Sipping on the coffee Zee had prepared for me I found myself back doing exactly what I always did even though I didn't have to- cleaning. Cleaning most of the guest rooms I finally came to Jace's. Knocking once I pushed open the old mahogany door, the room was actually pretty clean but no less I set out on my work, putting dirty clothes in the hamper Shute and tidying up a bit. Opening my eyes a bit I yawned, staring at the ceiling I realized a small circular section of it was made out of tinted glass so you could see the sky, it was really-.

Freezing for a second I quickly sat up and realized two things. One I had fallen asleep while making Jace's bed and he was currently standing less than five feet from me staring at me clearly amused "Jace have you seen On-" stopping in the doorway Zee looked between Jace and me then started laughing "well at least we know she slept comfortably" making her way back downstairs she told us dinner was ready.

Feeling a blush creep over my face I slid off his bed then straightened out the wrinkles, turning to leave he caught my arm "thanks for cleaning my room" smirking he winked and I blushed some more- dear god I would never live this down. Breaking the silence Zee addressed me "so Onyx darling how was your nap?" blushing I shook my head locking my gaze with Jace's for a second "Zee don't embarrass her we both know that she slept like a baby" shaking my head zee laughed, reaching across the table he laid his hand on mine looking right into my eyes with a devilish smirk plastered on his face "anytime you need a nap my bed is open okay dearie?" covering my face with my other hand I scowled at him playfully.

The month passed like a breeze and I quickly came to identify the house as a home. I even caught myself smiling a few times, I was actually content here even Jace and Zee had become like a family to me. Jace and I spent most of our time together, sometimes venturing into the woods for a picnic, I loved it, and things had changed and started looking up. Venturing on my own into the woods I sat by the small creek, dawdled my feet in the lukewarm water. Jace had brought me her on the second week that I had been here, it had become my little get away spot.

Hoping the rocks that crossed through the creek cold air rushed past me making me lose my balance and fall in. Warmness of water rushing around me, something snagged the shoulder of my shirt causing a small spark of pain before dwindling away. Spitting water out of my mouth I glared at Jace as he stood laughing his ass off on the shore, slapping him upside his head I wrung the water from my hair.

"You should have seen your face, now you look like a half drowned cat" starting up another round of laughter, rolling my eyes I walked ahead of him. It was normal now for us to play tricks on each other for the simple reason of being bored or entertainment. Dodging around a low hung branch my right shoulder twinged in pain, looking over at it the wet green fabric was turning a dark crimson. Zeroing his eyes on my shoulder Jace's eyes turned a dark red a major contrast to his usual blue green ones. Darting his eyes we locked gazes, blinking his eyes returned to their regular color "come on we need to get a bandage on that". Sitting half bare backed on the bathroom sink Jace put two butterflies to close the cut, smearing Neosporin between them.

Helping Zee in the kitchen she was trying to teach me how to make ginger snaps "careful Zee she might burn them like she did the cookies, or wait was that the exploding muffins?" Glaring I threw and egg at him, wiping egg off his face he gave me a devious look "now you two don't stat that again" scolding us the warning was lost in half a bag of flour, a carton of eggs, baking soda, and a bowl of batter. Laughing we took in the state of the kitchen, it really looked like a bomb went off in here, or me and Jace at least.

Re-entering the kitchen Zee's jaw dropped "lord have mercy I am not cleaning this up" it took us about an hour to actually start cleaning cause all we were really doing was snapping each other with wet towels till Zee came in. Tossing my combustion covered clothes in the laundry I changed into one of Jace's tees and pajama shorts, plopping myself onto the couch, I rested my head onto his shoulder yawning I watched the movie, well till I fell asleep anyway.
