Chapter 8
Chris' POV
While walking to our building I noticed a familiar car and saw Zyra went out of it. I was happy because I saw her again. I walked fast to reach her but seconds later, Rolph went out of the car too. I wasn't expecting this. They are smiling at each other and walked together.
I sent Zyra a message because I have this feeling that I can't approach her in person. I invited her to join the anniversary celebration of our church next week.
I can't believe I waited for 3 days just to get her confirmation. Not bad because she is sure to attend. I also invited some of my classmates but most of them refused. I respected their decisions since all of us are busy studying for our coming examinations. And since it's already 4 days before the big day, I spent the remaining time preparing our performances. I couldn't wait to see her again and let her hear the way I played the keyboard.
The days ran so fast. I only have 1 day left to prepare myself. I don't know what hit me but I suddenly have the urge to reconnect with my social media life. So I logged in to my Facebook account. At the right side of the monitor I can see the people who are online. Sherry is one of them.
I typed 'hello' and she replied with the same word.
'How are you?'
'Fine. How about you?'
'I am very much okay now'
'Chris I'm afraid I'm about to say goodbye. I still need to study.'
'Sure. No problem. Good luck then. Take care. Be happy always.'
'I will.'
And then she logged out. That's all I got. Just a very brief conversation after 90 days of no communication. I don't know why I'm still asking for more. I know I must be contented with our status now. At least we're friends.
I sent Zyra a screen shot of our conversation along with the picture when I escorted Sherry at the airport during her vacation in Saudi. I also sent her pictures that made me happy when I think of Sherry.
'I know this is quite random, but I want you to say something about these images.'
'Oh! I believe these are your moments together during summer. Am I right?'
'Yeah, you got it. Take a look at our conversation. It was the latest convo we had after 3 months. What do you think of that?'
'Well, what do you want me to say about your conversation?'
'Just your thoughts about it. Any will do.'
'Hmm... You started the conversation, she ended it. It lasted for only 3 minutes.'
'Exactly! 3 minutes is enough for me after 3 months of no news from her. I know it ended kinda fast, but it's okay. At least we've talked. What else can you say?'
'I don't know. I would like to ask you something if it's okay?'
'Go ahead.'
'Do you still love Sherry until now?'
'...'
'It's okay if you won't answer. I just want to clarify some things anyway.'
'Yes. I still love her.'
'Okay.'
'Did I mention that she cut her hair into shoulder length already? She even changed the frame of her glasses and her braces are now retainers. Her skirts, from toe level to knee level already. And her way of speaking, from a sincere tone to a sarcastic one.'
