Chapter 11
Chris' POV
After the carnival, I asked Zyra if where will she go after? She requested if she could stay in my house until the weekend because she has nowhere else to go since her best friends are living in an exclusive dormitory. Since my relatives will be back next week, I decided to let her stay until the weekend.
Tomorrow is the first day of the Finals week so I'll be busy doing my plates tonight. Zyra has some research papers to work on so we're both busy.
I prepared drinks for us. This time, we're both having a coffee latte with chocolate sprinkles on top, and a slice of chocolate monster cake that she bought a while ago.
"Coffee break..." we gathered at the kitchen and savored the cafe-like food.
"Wow! Chocolate monster! Where did you buy this Chris?"
"You bought that, not me. Amnesia?"
"Just kidding! HAHA! I wish that I could wake up with amnesia! And forget about these stupid little things..."
Okay, she started singing that song again. I wonder how significant the lyrics are. Well, for her it's meaningful. For me? Well, I can't even join the melody. She kept on singing with feelings as she stuffed cake slices into her mouth. Now she looked like a hungry liver-eating vampire. Gross, but funny.
"I wonder what is he doing right now. I think I'm missing Rolph already."
"It's natural to think about him. Like me, there are times that I'm wondering how is Sherry doing on the other side of the world also."
"Are they also thinking about us? Did they also miss us? Or are we forgotten?"
"Who knows." I swallowed my last slice of cake and sipped my coffee.
As we're finished with our food, we heard an unfamiliar sound.
"Can you hear that? Some sort of vibrations I guess." I asked her as she also traced the source of the sound.
"Vibrations? Can you feel some vibrations? Wait, I think I'll check my phone."
She went back to the table where she left her laptop and got her phone.
"Aha! Eureka!" She answered a call and sat back at the kitchen with me. I stood up and put the used dishes into the kitchen sink and cleaned the table. As I was doing such stuff, I can't stop myself but to eavesdrop a little so I paused at the kitchen sink.
"Hey, I'm glad you called." May it be Rolph? Judging from her face, I guess it's him.
"I'm okay. Is he okay there?" Oh! So it's not Rolph. Who is it then?
"What is it? Yes, I'm prepared for it. Please tell me more."
That statement was followed by moments of silence. She didn't say anything while the phone is still on hear ear. So she may be listening to the caller. She walked near the window and leaned on the glass. She was crying. I can hear her. I can feel her.
"Thank you so much. Okay, I'll contact you as soon as possible. Just give me time to breathe first. I already knew things like these will happen that's why I stayed away from it as early as I could. Thanks for understanding. Please do take care of him. Please do it for me. See you when I see you. God bless. Okay, you too. Bye."
She dropped her phone and leaned on the wall. She didn't stop crying. I'm not sure what to do at the moment. Should I come to her and comfort her? Or should I just leave her alone and give her time for reflection?
