~ Chapter Three: The Figure In The Woods. ~

Updated on October 21st, 2015

~~ Piper Aphrodite Rogers ~~

Piper sat on the couch, flipping through channels and eating her favorite snack, Carmel Popcorn.

She wore her pajamas, still. Black shorts, a blue tank top, and blue fuzzy socks. On her lap, sat her cat, Grinny (Yes, the Creepypasta. She doesn't know of Creepypastas, yet). Besides Grinny, she felt another presence. Something a bit more unpredictable and sinister. Clockwork was working at the moment, leaving Piper to deal with the unsettling feeling of being watched, even with the curtains closed, leaving her to cuddle Grinny for comfort and 'protection'. Not that Grinny minded, Piper was a pretty peaceful person. So she was good company, in his opinion.

Standing to wipe all the crumbs of Grinny, herself, and the couch, she opened the curtains, to invite a bit of sunlight into the dark house. However, she couldn't help but snap her attention to the woods. Where the feeling of being watched grew stronger, making her feel like she was making eye contact with something invincible. As she focused a little harder, straining her eyes to find whatever or whoever it was peeking through the living room window, she spotted the thing that had given her the unforgivable feeling of unending paranoia.

It was tall, with black string-like objects that seemed to sprout from it's back. Making it look so much like a tree, and helping it blend in with it's background. It wore a suit, darker than night, with a blood red tie. It's skin was undoubtedly pale, as pale as paper. And it's most frightening feature, it owned a head, but seemed to disown a face.

Startled, Piper began to stumbled back, tripping over thin air and falling onto her back. As that happened, a painful static unforgivably rung in her head and ears. Her throat seemed to be closing, making her ability to breath difficult. Her vision began to blur, showing her two of everything around her. Two Grinny's, TVs, couches, everything. Her taste buds cringed as the taste of metallic rushed over them like a wave. Her bones seemed to be melting in her body, as if it were turning to hot slime, she couldn't hear anything but Grinny's meowing. Her own screams - well, she wasn't screaming. Piper only grit her teeth as she tried to force the painful feelings away, only to fail miserably.

Images flashed in her mind. Of the figure. Sometimes with no face, sometimes with a bloodied mouth. Other times she would be staring at pages with pictures of trees and the figure itself with writing on it, such as, 'It Follows', 'No Eyes, Always Watches', 'Don't Look, Or It Takes You.' And many more. She sometimes even saw her own dead body dangling from a tree branch, the branch impaling her chest from behind and her inside dangling from tree to tree like bloody decoration ornaments of some sort. Hundreds of different voices began hissing several different things in her mind, one of those voices sounding an awful lot like her Mom.

Some of the voices sounded raspy, another sounded like a little girl, each of them seemed like voices she should know, but didn't. However, the only one she recognized would be the one which mocked her Mother's gently voice.

You are the chosen one . . . The symbol on your wrist . . . Your Time Is Up . . . Spread The Word . . . GO. TO. SLEEP

Piper let a cry of agony escape her parted lips as she listened to the last voice. The raspiest one, who told her to go to sleep.

Piper closed her eyes, and allowed herself to fall into the dark.
