~ Chapter Eleven: You Seem Familiar, Dear. ~

Updated on October 26th, 2015

~~ Piper Aphrodite Rogers ~~

Piper sat on a wooden bench, at the park.

The ten year old glanced at every kid there, watching the smiles on their faces grow larger and larger as they enjoyed themselves more and more. And it all taunted her. Why couldn't she have a regular life like them? Why didn't they constantly have demons haunting their dreams, threatening war because they were the offspring of immortal killers. Of course, Piper felt guilty for thinking such thoughts. But, those kids took their lives for granted. They must've really loved the feeling of being able to run freely.

"You seem familiar, dear."

Piper jumped, slightly, and turned around in her seat, as an elder woman took her seat next to Piper. The lady was skinny, and short, as, her back hunched over. Her brownish-greyish hair was up in a bun, and her eyes sparkled with a sad kind of kindness. She wore jeans and a white long sleeved shirt, in her lap, she cradled a cane, to help with her walking. Her hands slightly shook, as she looked at Piper, the woman's eyes glistened with salty tears, and she sniffled.

"D-Do I?" Piper questioned, furrowing her perfectly arched eyebrows.

The woman nodded. "Yes, you do. You look a whole lot like my son and daughter. My son was the youngest, my daughter the eldest. My daughter, died at a young age, in a car crash. My son was killed in a fire. Never to be seen again. You look a lot like him. The dark brown hair, tinted gold. The lips, the nose. The only difference would be the eyes. Yours, they change like a kaleidoscope, while his were a warming brown. Like him, you're tall, and nicely built. Very athletic looking, might I add. How old are you, dear?"

Piper smiled softly. "T-Ten. Um . . . M-My name is Piper."

The woman smiled. "Beautiful name. My daughter always dreamed of naming her daughter, Piper. After her death, my son promised himself he'd name his daughter Piper. You remind me so much of my children. But, now they're both gone. Along with my husband, it's been so long, I can't even remember his name. However, that man is better of gone."

"Ma'am, if you don't mind me asking, would you possibly remember the n-name of your s-son?" Piper had been a bit fretful to ask, if her theory was correct, she didn't exactly know what would be wrong. However, she had to know if she was correct.

The lady smiled, once again.

"Toby Rogers."
