~ Chapter Thirteen: Looking For Piper ~

Updated on November 2nd, 2015

~~ Connie Rogers ~~

Connie continued to sit on the bench at the park.

She stared deeply into the dark woods, which had swallowed Piper whole and camouflaged her from sight. Not even the shinning sun could light up the woods. And the fact that the ten year old girl had run into the woods just like that worried Connie. The urge to get up and follow after the girl grew stronger as the similarity she had to her son, Toby Rogers, was painfully burnt into the back of the woman's mind.

Furrowing her eyebrows, Connie stood from the wooden bench, and began to walk to the direction of the woods. She knew the woods were a dangerous place, she knew their were plenty of people who had gone into the woods and went missing unexpectedly. So what was she doing? Not even she knew. But she did know that she wanted to find where the girl, Piper, had gone. If it was home, why was her house in the woods?

Connie now stood at the entrance of the woods. She looked up at the taller trees, making sure she could recognize the path of which she was taking. Not like she needed to, there was a path right in front of her. Made of dirt and was muddy from last night's rain, and holding Piper's footprints. However, there was nothing wrong with being absolutely sure, right?

The woman made her way into the mysterious darkness of the deadly and unsettling woods. It was quiet. And that wasn't a good thing. It was said, that whenever the animals and other organisms in the woods fell silent, their was danger nearby. Connie was only now believing it. So many people going missing in these woods, including her own son, she wondered how many people noticed the unnatural silence that fell around them as they underestimated the dangerous setting around them.

Connie considered turning around, leaving Piper to her game of Let's-Get-Ourselves-Killed. Even thought she really wanted to know where the girl went, and how much more Connie wanted to learn about her, she was beginning to think it was time to leave.

Turning around, Connie only then noticed she was no longer on the muddy trail which had led her to her current position. She began walking forward, guessing that this would have been the way she had came in. However, she stopped as a painful static rung through her ears, and a rather tall and pale creature appeared in front of her.

"No eyes. Always watches."
