Alex And Meredith

Chapter One: Age 5

Meredith's little legs started to get tired. She'd been standing for 30 minutes strait. She looked at her little baby doll.
"Scalpel." She said in a tiny voice, holding out her hand. Her best friend Alex handed her a small plastic kitchen knife.
"Thank you, Dr.Karev." She squeaked smiling. She was to focused on her baby doll to hear SGH doors opening. Then she heard the familiar voice,
"Mer?" Meredith turned, she saw her mother Ellis Grey. Her little face lit up.
"Mommy! Yay!" She exclaimed. She ran over to her mother, with her arms opening wide, going for a big hug. She hadn't seen Ellis in 15 hours. Meredith, failed to notice her mom's cold expression. She hugged Ellis's legs. She smiled up at her mom. Then she realized the, cold expression. She took a step back. And folded her hands behind her. She desperately needed Alex to be near her.
"Meredith what are you doing, with that baby doll?" She looked over at her doll, and smiled, proud of herself.
"I'm doing a surgery on her belly," Meredith explained.
"Why are you doing a appendectomy!? You should be doing a Cardiac surgery or a removing a mass tumor! Not a stupid, stupid, appendectomy! I'm so disappointed in you." Said Ellis shaking her head. Meredith almost started crying. But she kept a strait face.
"I'm sorry, I heard, that Dr. Webber, was doing a belly surgery and I know you like him, so I thought you would like me too." She said, staring at the floor. Meredith looked over shoulder at Alex, who was standing there, he took a step then noticed that Ellis Grey was looking at him and stepped back.
"Meredith of course I like you, but your just so, ordinary."
"I'm sorry,"
"Well I need to go. Good Bye, see you, when I can." Meredith just nodded. With that Ellis walked out, the doors closing silently behind her. Alex was beside her, Meredith looked up,
"Alex, my baby has a tumor, actually let's get it out."
"Okay," Alex said nodding.

Later That Night
Alex and Meredith where asleep in the on-call room. Alex was looking at the bunk above him.
"Mer?" He asked.
"Hmm?" She said sleepily.
"Your awesome." He heard her doll over. She looked right him.
"Alex can I sleep with you?" She asked. He nodded. She got up and walked over to his bunk. He scoot over to let he under the blankets. She put her head on his shoulder.
"I love you, Alex, as a friend."
"I love you too."
"Good, because nobody else does." Then moments later he was asleep.
