When I came back downstairs, my dad was changed into jeans and a dark t-shirt. He already had his shoes on - converse, not fancy shoes.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Yeah, let's go." I replied. I followed him outside to Jen's car.
"We're taking the 'Jen-Mobile'?" I asked.
"Yeah. Is that okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, just make sure to drive through some mud puddles." I replied, getting in. My dad chuckled and climbed in too.
It was about a twenty minute drive, maybe more. I didn't pay much attention to the time because me and my dad were talking about random stuff. I asked questions about his favorite things to do when he was with my mom.
"Like she told you, we were both adrenaline junkies." He replied. "We did lot's of things involving races, sports and anything that involved risking our lives." He smiled at the last part.
"Yeah I can tell from the 'skydiving' part." I said jokingly. My dad smiled and pulled into a small parking lot. There was a very large garage, the door pulled all the way open. Inside there were several golf carts. We got out of the car and walked in.
I followed my dad to a counter where a woman with black pigtails and long bangs swept to the side stood, hanging up keys on a board on the wall to her right. She turned and looked at us, a happy smile.
"Can I help you, Mr. Adamson." She said, looking excited to see him.
"We'd like to rent a golf cart, if there's any available." He told her.
"All the ones in here are reserved for a birthday party and a few families." She replied. "But we have some outside."
"Great." My dad replied, smiling.
"Alright, let me just get Laine to take you out." She said, motioning for a small, slim girl with magenta hair and a short, plain violet dress on. She was adjusting the name tag on her black vest as she walked over to us.
"Hey, what's up?" She asked, smiling cheerfully. She had a small, slightly high voice that made her sound a little younger than she was - which was probably about 17, more or less.
"I need you take them to the golf carts outdoors." the girl said.
"Yeah sure thing." She replied. "Let's go." We followed her outside, going behind the garage and onto a grassy area. About ten feet later, we were at a row of golf carts under a large blue tent held up by poles. Laine pulled a set of keys out of her pocket.
"Go ahead and pick one out out of nine, seven, and eleven." She said. "I only have the keys on me for those ones right now. The others are inside."
"Which one?" My dad asked.
"Seven." I replied. Laine smiled and handed me the key.
"I'll take nine, then." My dad replied. She handed us each a key with a number.
"It's forty dollars to rent one." She said. "But because I love your movies so much, we'll do a half off." My dad smiled in appreciation.
"Thanks." He said. "You sure you wont get in trouble for that?"
"No, I'm sure they'll understand. If they find out." She replied. "Just remember, each one has a tracking device in them. I know you wouldn't steal one, but I'm required to tell that to each person who decides to rent one. Please stay on the trail, which if you follow through the wooden fenced area to the woods, you will get there just fine. Oh, and we have cameras set up in there and staff patroling the area so people wont do anything wrong, so don't get freaked out if you see people wandering around out there. Anything else?"
