Basketball Practice

Not much happened over the weekend. I thought about the hug but just cast it aside as a friendship type thing. I practiced my trombone and went bowling. I also tutored Dylan on Friday but nothing happened. That was about it. On Monday I arrived at school wondering what Dylan might say to me. Probably that I need to work out more(I'm pretty much a human twig).
While walking to first period, I bumped into him by accident.
"Oh, sorry!" we said in unison.
"No, it's my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going," I said.
"Well, how about we walk to class together?"
"Sure," I said.
"You nervous about basketball practice today?"
"A little."
"If you have any questions, just ask me. OK?"
"OK I probably will."
"Hey there's a Bull's game on tonight, how about you come over and watch it with me? I can explain everything then."
"OK. Will your parents be cool with it?"
"Definitely."
"OK. See ya then," I said as we walked into class.

"Alright, new seats everyone!" Mrs. Koltz shouted."You guys can chose where you sit!" Everybody started cheering. I sat next towards the back and to the right. My friends Drew, Tony, and Jessica came and sat in the row in front of me. The seats to the left and right of me were empty. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Dylan stand up and start to walk towards me. With every step he took, my heart beat faster. Finally, right before my heart burst out of my chest, he set his binder down on the seat to my right.
"Is anyone sitting here?" he asked.
"No. You can sit there."
"Cool." All through the period, we glanced at each other. Towards the end of class our teacher was finished early and said we could talk to our neighbors. Immediately, Dylan turned to me. "Hey can I ask you something?"
"You just did," I joked.
"Haha but seriously."
"Yeah. Anything."
"OK. I was wondering if you would want to..." RINNNNNG! At that moment he was cut off by the bell. My friends pushed me out of the classroom before he could finish. In eight period he never got a chance to talk to me. Unluckily enough, there was no band as Mrs. Kosner was sick. Luckily however, him and I did have basketball practice.

At basketball practice, we started off doing sprints. Down and back, down and back. It was quite boring. After that we worked on our layups and free throws. Colin, whose ego was taking up half the court, couldn't make one free throw. We moved on to practicing three pointers and some skills like a figure eight dribble, the spider, and dribbling towards another guy and spinning out of the way. The final thing we worked on was passing. We started off by bounce passing the ball. Then, we went on to chest passing it. After that we were done and ready to leave. I went in the locker room and changed. As i was walking out, Dylan stopped me and asked if we could talk.
"What is it?" I inquired.
"I was wondering if it's just me or..." His voice trailed off
"Or what?"
"Or if we have a connection."
"I don't-"
"No," he interrupted,"I need to say this all at once so let me just put it out there. I like you. OK? I know you probably don't feel the same but I need you to know."
"Dylan, of course I feel the same. You're perfect."
"Really you like m-"
"Dylan come on let's go!" his dad yelled down the hall interrupting him.
"Listen I'll talk to you on Instagram. Or at school or something," he said
"OK." He started to walk away but then turned around. He suddenly wrapped his arms around me. I could feel the warmth of his chest against mine. I could feel his heartbeat. I could smell his amazing smelling deodorant. Smiling, he turned and left. I stood there for a couple minutes trying to process everything.
"I love him."
