"Awww nigga, what was that??" My homie, Deandre asked after I missed my shot.

"Man,I don't even know. My game is off today bro," I replied.

"Getcho head in the game KV! You know scouts be coming out and this yo first game since you got hurt my nigga. You gotta show these niggas that nothing can stop BIG KV!!" My other homie, Ant yelled, getting hype.

My name is Kayvion Mendez Jr. Anybody who knows me calls me KV tho. Im black and Mexican but hell, where I come from, if you got even an OUNCE of black in you, you BLACK! Anyway, I'm a light skinned nigga and I play basketball for my school, DayView High. This is my last year and ya nigga had to go out with a bang so just guess who's captain. Yea,I was kinda feeling myself at first but like 3 weeks ago, I got injured because some nigga wasn't feeling that dunk I dropped on his head! He pushed my ass and I hurt my knee. I was out for a long time and I wasn't havin it nomore.

Anyway, I live with my grandma, Mama Lo, for now. My pops got locked up when I was 5 and I haven't heard from him since. Moms was killed in a car accident last year. The person who hit her was drunk and speeding and moms was on her way to work. 5-0 came to my door at 8 o clock that night. I thought they was after my ass because I was doing some shit I aint have no business doing. Nah, they came to break the news. Ya nigga broke down right then and there.

I aint have no other fam to go to because they all said the same thing. "Kayvion is too much". My grandma on the other hand was willing to take me in as long as I stayed on top of my game and she needed company anyway because she wasn't taking too well to losing her daughter.

Some days, we just sit together and reminisce on the good times with moms. One thing is fasho, I miss her like crazy. Don't be thinking a nigga a simp either. I normally don't show emotions but I gotta let y'all know what the deal is. Well welcome to my world !
