"Why is she with us? Why couldn't we have just left her in beacon hills?" Malia said, huffing slightly with her arms crossed. Stiles rubbed his face, sighing, his other hand on the wheel.
"Because. She wanted to." He replied. Malia raised an eyebrow and looked back at Lydia, glaring slightly. Lydia rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that I wasn't the one who asked to come. And if I knew that Scott and Kira were staying home and not coming with us- I wouldn't have come." She said.
Malia raised an eyebrow and looked back at Lydia. "Why does it matter if Scott comes? You have feelings for him? You know he's with Kira right?" Malia said.
She didn't sound malicious. It was more... Annoying, Lydia thought to herself.
Lydia blinked and looked at Malia. "I know that he's with Kira. That's why I said 'Scott and Kira'. Or are you really so stupid that you can't hear me correctly?" Lydia said, shaking her head. Stiles sighed.
"Lydia cmon. She's been a coyote most of her life so she's still not used to us- okay?" He said. Lydia sighed and looked at Malia.
Malia looked at stiles. "You don't think I can handle myself?" She asked,
Looking at stiles with an innocent look.Lydia chimed in, trying to change the subject, annoyed at the innocence in Malia's voice. She didn't seem innocent. "No. I don't have feelings for Scott. Scott's like a brother to me and I just really care about him. I've known him for a pretty long time, and we've both lost someone close to us." Lydia said.
Malia tilted her head to the side slightly which reminded Lydia of a puppy not understanding what someone's saying. Lydia sighed.
"Malia- I know that you know what it's like to lose someone. You've lost a lot. We'll... you aren't the only person who's experienced losing people in your life."
Lydia looked at the mirror and made eye contact at Stiles before looking away and sighing.
"We've all lost more than one person along the way." Lydia said, reminded of Stiles' mom, Allison's dad, Jackson, Isaac... Allison... All either left them for a different country, or left them for good.
Stiles looked at her from the rear view mirror, looking from the road to the mirror every so often. Why had Lydia been acting so strange lately? It's almost as if as soon as Malia got here-
But then again, Lydia's never gotten along with naive people, she's always just avoided them. And she can't really avoid Malia now that she's with the pack and all.
Malia looked over at Stiles with a raised eyebrow.
"Stiles?" She said, looking at him confused. He turned his head towards her slightly, still making sure to focus on the road.
"Yeh?" He replied. She blinked looking at him before looking back at Lydia who was looking out her window, not paying attention. She looked back at Stiles and sighed.
"Never mind." She said. Stiles chose not to ask into it because knowing Malia, she would end up telling him later in a very abrupt fashion. And if she didn't want to say it in front of Lydia- it was most likely about her.
Lydia rolled her eyes from the back seat- thinking the same exact thing as Stiles. Their minds were extremely similar and they both found themselves thinking the same things most of the time.
Lydia knew that if Malia wasn't saying it in front of Lydia- it was something about her because Malia wasn't the person to ever hold something back. Malia never really thought about how others would feel- she was impulsive. So if there was something wrong with someone, she would definitely tell you. But when it came to Stiles, everything was in private.
Apparently she knew how to think about Stiles' feelings.
Malia could sense Lydia's eye roll and turned around in her passenger seat.
"Is something wrong Lydia?" Malia asked, a tone of aggravation in her voice. She rarely got mad at anyone. But Lydia brought something out in her that she didn't like to bring out- and her inner coyote was snarling.
"Malia you obviously wanted to say something about me." Lydia said. Stiles sighed.
Oh great. An argument. Just what we need on a vacation. Stiles thought.
Malia scoffed.
"And is there something wrong with that?" She asked. Lydia looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Actually yes. If there's something wrong with me- id rather you say it in front of my face like you do with everyone else." Lydia replied. Malia shrugged.
"Okay. Stiles was looking at you in the mirror. And all I could think of is how you never paid attention to him for years and now that I'm here you're jealous." Malia said. Lydia chuckled humorously looking at her amusingly.
"I'm jealous? Are you kidding me? If anything you're jealous. You saw Stiles looking at me- so what? We're friends, my God." Lydia said rolling her eyes. Stiles sat in the drivers seat and sighed, not talking and continued to drive.
Malia scoffed. "I'm not jealous." Malia said rolling her eyes. Lydia chuckled slightly.
"You're totally jealous! Because I've known Stiles longer and you've known him for less than three months. You're worried and jealous. Because Stiles has a past for knowing me better than anyone." Lydia said. Malia turned to Lydia sharply and looked at her, her jaw tight.
"Listen Red Head-" Malia started, but Stiles quickly and almost instinctually cut her off
"She's actually Strawberry Blonde." He said, his expression not changing as he continued to drive. Lydia looked at him shocked before smiling wide and Malia turned towards him, raising an eyebrow.
Stiles continued driving as if nothing had happened before sensing Lydia's bright smile and Malia's stare. He turned towards them, confused.
"What?" He asked nonchalantly looking between the two of them confused. Lydia smirked and sat back in her seat.
"Oh nothing." Lydia replied.
"You just proved my point, that's all."
