Chapter 1: The New School
I took a look at the school. It didn't look like any other school I've ever gone to before. There was something mysterious about this place. It was dark and a bit creepy. I shook my head and thought that it was probably just something I imagined.
"Well, guess I just have to go in and check this place out"
I walked up to the gates wondering what would happen next when I suddenly heard a voice behind me.
"Well, well. You must be new here."
I turned around to see a boy around my age, if not slightly older, looking at me with a rather annoying smirk on his face. He had black hair that reached his jaw line with some red highlights in it (I must admit that he was really hot!)
"What do you mean 'well, well'?" I asked suspiciously
"Nothing" he said still smirking
He walked up to me, looked me up and down (strange I thought), and said:
"I'm Alex, and you are ...?"
"Julie" I said (there was something about this guy that made me feel uncomfortable).
"Hmm... Julie. That's a really nice name Julie. So what do you have first period?"
I raised a brow, looked at my schedule and said "English"
"What a coincidence!" He shouted, making me jump in surprise."So do I! Come on or we'll be late!"
He grabbed my hand and started dragging me along with him. I couldn't do anything but follow.
We got inside and everything looked normal at first, but when I got a closer look I realized that this school was quite old. It hard a dark and mysterious aspect to it. Like if it was hiding many secrets yet to be revealed. Very odd for a school.
"You like it?" Alex asked when he saw the expression on my face. He was still smirking and I didn't see the point why. Why wouldn't he just cut it out for a moment?!
"Yeah... It's quite unusual. This place doesn't look like a normal school" I said a little dazed.
"Well. This ISN'T a normal school." He looked quite amused when he saw that I didn't understand what he meant.
What did that mean? Not normal? In what way?
"You'll find out soon" he simply said and continued to drag me along with him.
"I'll find out? Why don't you just tell me?" I asked nervously.
"You have to find out for yourself. It's better this way. You'll see"
I was beginning to become more suspicious when I realized that the other students didn't even look at us, or make fun of me (as that had happened at my two previous schools). How awkward was that?
We got into the classroom and I went to sit at the back, hoping not to be noticed. Alex sat a couple of seets in front of me. As he sat down, everyone just began staring at me like I was some wacko or something (like things weren't weird enough already!)! What was the matter with these people? First the odd-looking school, then Alex, the secret I had to find out about by myself and now THIS?!
"This is too much" I mumbled to myself.
My head was beginning to spin. I wasn't the slightest used to have so many strange things happen to me in such short time.
I tried to ignore the staring looks and began pulling out my stuff, when the teacher, finally walked in.
"Good morning class" he said cheerfully.
"Morning'" some of the student answered.
He took a look at the register and looked up. "I see that we have a new student with us today. Would you like to introdue yourself Miss Jensen?" he suggested politely.
Oh shit! I sucked at this! I was never good at speaking in public. I always began to shake and sometimes I would embarras myself by saying something completely irrelevant.
I got up from my seat and began, or should I say tried, to introduce myself as quick as I could.
"Well. *Ahem, ahem* My name's Julie Jensen. Uhm... I moved here with my mom just a week ago... And I really like Eglish and History..."
I quickly sat down again, slightly shaken. "That went well enough" I thought. My performance was perfect compared to the other times I had to do it.
"Thank you Miss Jensen" the teacher said, and started the lesson.
I barely paid attention to what he said, I had so much on my mind: Alex...the school...the 'secret'...
"This is too weird!" I thought.
