Josh's POV

They danced. Jumping up and down and then slower and moving around and touching each other and everything.

At some point a girl came near Josh. She was brunette with green eyes. That was all that mattered really. Josh didn't care what she wore, If she was fat or thin. She was a brunette with green eyes. Just that.

Maya in front of him stopped dancing and her smile disappeared. She stood still watching as the brunette toughed Josh's shoulder.

-Hey, her voice was sexy and warm and it made him feel... Nothing. What was wrong with him?

Josh shook her hand off.

-Hi.

Her eyes traveled all over Josh's body. Josh just turned to look at Maya. She looked sad and hurt. But her eyes were still steady on his and intense. She was Maya Hart after all and she was still strong.

-My name is Katherine, said the girl with her soft and mysterious voice.

Maya was just beautiful and he didn't understand what took him so long to see it. And she was in front of him.

Josh felt another pair of hands on his other shoulder. He didn't even turn.

-And I am Eleanor.

Josh didn't give even the smallest of glance. He knew what he would see. Another fake girl, trying to be someone that she is not. Because she was weak. She needed someone to tell her who she should be rather than just be her. And all along Maya was in front of him. Beautiful, rebel, real.

He realized he must stared at her with open mouth do he forced himself to close it. Then he moved he shoulders violently and the girls' hands fell.

-I have a girlfriend., he said.

-It doesn't matter, said Eleanor. Or it could be Katherine, Josh wasn't paying attention.

His eyes were on Maya, waiting for her reactions. She winced, just a little bit and then her face was hard again.

-It does to me. ,Josh murmured.

The girls finally let him free, dissatisfied. They moved on to another guy.

Maya took a step back. The room was full of people and and the music was still very loud, but suddenly the only thing that Josh could hear was Maya.

-I didn't know you had a girlfriend Josh, she said with a rough voice.

-I don't.

Maya frowned, confused

-But you said--

Josh cut her off.

-I just wanted them to leave me alone. Okay, not alone, alone. With you.

Maya's frowned disappeared and a shy smile took its place.

-Want to leave?, Josh asked . Wanna go somewhere quiet?

It was half past 9. They had half an hour before going home.

-Sure, Maya said, playfully. Josh took her hand, and together they left the party.

They got in the car and the boy started it. The engine made a noise again and they started moving.

-They girls were cute you know. ,Maya started.

-Maya...

-But of course you wouldn't have noticed since you didn't even look at them!

Josh felt weird. Why did she want him to talk to those girls?

Because she doesn't care anymore. That's why. He tried to play it cool.

-Yeah, I... I didn't care.

-Why not?

Josh tried hard to keep his eyes on the road.

-I'm just saving myself for someone else.

He could feel Maya raising her eyebrows but he didn't want to look at her. That way she might not see his blush.

-Who? ,she asked in a weak voice.

Josh parked the car. He got out and opened the door for her. She left the car and followed Josh, as he headed to the same park they saw before.

The park was beautiful. The was a small lake. Trees were all around them, all sizes. It was dark and the moon was spreading a mysterious light. Josh was surprised to see that there were some wooden tables under some trees. Maybe students came here to study. Some years ago Josh got accepted to NYU but at the end he decided to stay in Philadelphia and go to college there. It was plain sad that his college there and NYU often did proms and danced together.

One boy appeared in front of the two teenagers. Josh got past him but Maya wasn't so lucky. The boy was blonde with dark eyes. His muscular body blocked the way and she didn't manage to follow Josh.

-Hello Blondie, the stranger said.

Josh quickly turned around.

-Leave. , Maya said, before he could react.

-Come on hottie, the boy continued, I know you want to kiss me. I see the way you look at me.

Okay, the boy was cometely drunk. Josh could smell the alcohol. Then the blonde boy placed his hand on the side of Maya's neck. Josh could see that he was gentle but he still touched her and that was too much.

Josh pushed him away.

-Don't touch her! ,he yelled.

He must have looked pretty angry so the boy just murmured an offensive word and left.

-Easy Josh. ,Maya said quietly and kept going like nothing had happened.

The it his Josh that that must be every day life for her. People -boys- must stop her everyday. They must talk to her and flirt with her. Because she was gorgeous and if even you didn't know her, you certainly wanted to.

Josh followed the girl.

-So what's going on with you and Friar? ,he asked.

-You're changing the subject... ,she murmured but answered his question, Nothing. He is my friend. I liked him. Or that's what I thought.

-What about Riley and Lucas?

-They are king of together again. And Riley is mostly the reason Lucas and I never became a thing. It broke her. She wouldn't admit it but it did. And Huckleberry likes her anyway.

They reached a wooden table. Maya sat on it with a fast move. She looked at him and he took a decision. Fast decision maybe but he did it.

With soft hands, Josh opened her legs and she pulled him closer. The almost had the same height now. Josh wrapped his arms around her waist and she grabbed his T-shirt.

-I'm not changing the subject. ,he whispered.

She took a deep breath. Josh leaned closer and touched his forehead to hers.

-Who, then?

-Isn't it kind of obvious? ,his voice came out more nervous that he wanted to.

Maya laughed softly. Josh finally closed the gap between them.

Once his lips touched hers, he realized he was in too deeep. He couldn't stop if she asked him to. He was panning on having just holidays but he fell hard.

Maya's lips were soft on his, with an amazing taste that he couldn't really understand. Her hands were on his face now. It was such a relief to finally be able to touch her. He moved his lips faster than he should. He pushed her harder but he knew she could handle. Her hands ran through his messy hair and he tried to get closer but there wasn't closer.
