Knight In Shinning Armor

I sat on the steps with my head resting in my hands, staring at my feet. All I could think about was the fight, I kept replaying and replaying it and thinking of all the things I shouldn't have said to him. 

 I looked down at my hands and saw the promise ring Aidan had gotten for me. He was right, I shouldn't have lied to him, but I did what I thought was right and that is something worth fighting for....Right? 

I kept thinking who is the right one in this situation, me or him? Ugh, this is so complicated. This is going to be the only time I have with him for a  while, and we are having a fight!

I wiped the tears from my face and headed up stairs to go see Claudia. I knocked on the door, "Claudia, can I come in?" 

"Yeah, sure." She said, sounding sad. I walked in to see both dogs on her lap as she laid on the bed looking at the ceiling. 

"Neve, I'm really sorry. I should have just called Aidan and he could have gotten her. It was dumb for me to call you, you could have been hurt. She went there, she should have had to get herself out of trouble." She said with a tear starting to roll down the side of her face. 

"Claudia, you did the right thing." I said sitting beside her. 

"You and Aidan are in a fight because of me!" She said starting to cry hard. 

I pulled her into a hug, "Claudia, that fight wasn't because of you. That was because of me and Aidan. You didn't do anything to start that."

She leaned back and rubbed her eyes, "Really?" I shook my head yes and she rubbed her eyes again and Max jumped on her lap and started licking her face.

"Max, ewwww!" She said as she started to laugh and push him away. He hated when his "people" were sad. He then realised I wasn't my happy usual self and he came over to me and snuggled next to me. 

"I'm gonna have to go see your sister." I said as I stood up and Claudia's face turned angry. 

"I hate her." She said coldly. "Claudia, don't say that. She just makes bad decisions sometimes. She's still your sister, and you still have to love her. Love her, not her choices." I said as I walked closer to the door. 

I turned back again to look at her and her face wasn't angry anymore, it was just sad. I left the room, grabbed my stuff and then got in the car and headed to go see Marie. 

I got to the house and I walked in. Marie was sitting on the couch watching TV. She looked at me and rolled her eyes, "Here comes miss perfect." 

I stood there with my hand on my hip and my head cocked sideways. "What the hell were you thinking last night? Making Claudia walk home in the dark by herself?!" 

"Oh save it for someone who cares, Neve!!" She said while giving me the finger. 

"You know what! You are a self centered bitch, who has a great family who you take for granted all the time. Your mom works her butt off, Aidan tries to help you and so does Claudia, but you ignore their help! Why can't you just get your stuff together?! Stop feeling sorry for yourself!!" I said loudly and she crossed her arms and stood up.

"You have no idea what I have been through! When I was 13, I was bullied so bad, people called me slut, whore and worse things than that. I was never like this before. I finally got so tired of them that I tried to kill myself. Obviously it didn't work. I then just started doing the things they were accusing me of. Then once I did, it didn't bother me as much because all of the negative comments were true. That sounds stupid, I know, but it worked for me." She said starting to tear up at the end. 

I went over to her and sat next to her. "You don't have to keep acting this way. You are away from those people now. You are going to get yourself hurt!" I said as I brought her into a hug. 

She cried into my shoulder. "You just...just don't understand how I feel. You have the perfect boyfriend, family and life."

I sorta laughed a little, "My life is far from perfect."

"I will never have a boyfriend that is as good as Aidan. I'm not good enough for a good guy. And all those things you said were true, I am all of those and I do take them for granted." She said as she leaned back and wiped her tears. 

"Yeah you will. Marie, you are a great person! The right guy will see that, the wrong guy will see other things." 

"I'm sorry for everything. I bet I caused a lot of trouble." She said as she fiddled with her hands. 

"Just a little, but it's ok." I said as I sat back and looked at the ceiling. "I need to go find Aidan." 

She shook her head and we said our goodbyes. 

I headed to the one place that I knew he would be, the lake. I drove to the lake and sure enough his truck was parked in the grass and in the distance you could see a small figure standing at the water. 

I parked my car, got out and headed to see him. I got about 10 feet from him, "Hey." 

He didn't turn around and he didn't say anything back to me. After about a minute of silence, I turned away and started walking back to my car. Tears were flowing down my face and I felt embarrassed and hurt. 

Out of no where, I strong hand grabbed my arm and flung me around. Strong hands cupped my face, and soft lips were placed on mine. He moved his hand to the back of my head to pull me closer and to deepen the kiss. 

I let my hands slide over his buzzed hair. His muscles were bulging out of his tank top and it was hard to handle. I wanted to go all the way. I started taking off his tank top but before it could get all the way off he broke the kiss and pulled the tank top back down. 

We were both breathing fast and even with him barely being able to breathe he came close to me and looked down at me, "I'm so sorry. I need to let you do things on your own. And any of my family problems are as much your business as they are mine."

"I'm sorry too! I should have told you. I did lie to you, and I'm sorry that I did." He cupped my cheeks and pecked me on the lips. He then got down on one knee.

"Aidan, what are you doing?" I said as I started getting nervous. 

"Neve, I love you with all my heart. I will continue doing that for the rest of my life. You are my world, my sunshine, and my soul mate. I want to have a life time with you, as well as forever with you. I want to be the man that you can cry on, who will keep you safe, who will make you laugh when you are feeling sad. I want to be your knight in shinning armer, your first and last time. I asked your dad for your hand before I left for bootcamp and he said yes. Neve, will you marry me?"

I was speechless, tears were rolling down my face. My heart was pounding so hard. "Yes!" I squealed and he jumped up and spun me around. He grabbed my hand and then slipped a beautiful ring on my finger. 

"Aidan, it's beautiful!" I said as I looked into his hazel eyes that melted my heart. "I'm glad you like it." He said and I flung my arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips. 

We broke away,"I love you."

"I love you too, Neve."
