Neve's P.O.V

The past couple of months have been pretty hard. My dad and mom both passing away and Aiden being gone was really taking a toll on me. Marie has been staying with me and she is starting to show a lot. As expected, she has her moments of being a bitch, but I think she is gradually trying to hold back. About a month ago, I received a phone call from Aiden. He hopes to be home soon but that was a month ago. Brian has been around a lot and I really appreciate him being here. I know Aiden may not be happy with that but I need a friend and since Jia is away for a little while, Brian is going to be that friend.

I have been really busy because of Christmas. It's Christmas Eve and I still feel like I have so much to do. Marie is going to stay with Claudia and their mom for Christmas. They invited me to come but I just want to stay here this Christmas. I was hoping Aiden would come home before Christmas, since this is our first Christmas being married.

"Hey, I'm going to get going soon. You need anything?" Marie asked, scaring me out of my thoughts as I drank my coffee on the porch.

I shook my head slightly, "No, but take these" I got up from the cold front porch to go inside to grab the gifts I had gotten for Aiden's mom, Claudia, and Marie.

"these are for you guys" I said as I handed her the gifts.

She said thank you, we said merry Christmas, and then she left. I finished decorating the Christmas tree and put the gifts I had gotten for Aiden under the tree. I know he wasn't going to make it but I guess there was just something inside of me that was hoping a miracle would happen.

the twinkly lights were up, the gifts were wrapped, and the clouds looked like snow. That night, I went to Christmas Eve service at my church. I enjoyed being with the people there, they were like family and it made it really feel like Christmas.

Once I got home, I put my pajamas on and watched Christmas movies. As I was watching Home Alone, I heard the phone ring, I picked up

"Hello"

"Merry Christmas, babe" I heard Aiden's voice.

"Aiden!" I squealed, " I miss you so much"

"I miss you too. Listen, I can't talk long. I just wanted to say Merry Christmas because I won't be there tomorrow"

I knew it was ridiculous to think he would have been home for tomorrow but it was still upsetting and I was disapointed.

"Merry Christmas. I wish you were here" I said, starting to tear up, " I just miss you a lot"

"And I miss you too. I've got to go, babe, but I love you"

"I love you too"

The phone hung up and I just sat there. Feeling depressed, tired, and kind of angry, I went up stairs to bed.

The next morning I woke up and looked out the window to see a foot of snow, I couldn't help but have a childish smile on my face just from the look of the snow. Quickly going down the steps, I went down stairs, turned the corner and saw Aiden standing at the tree.

My heart raced quickly. I ran to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. I was so excited that I started crying, I was so happy to see him.

I pulled away and wipped my tears, "You made it "

He gave me that warm familiar smile and wipped my tears, "I'd travel through hell to be here with you. Merry Christmas"

He captured my lips with his and those same butterflies filled my stomach, just like they had for our first kiss.

This was my Christmas present this year, and I couldn't be happier.
