"Why do you do it?" I started straight off and his expression sharpened.
He didn't give an answer, he just paused and after a long intake of breath, he scowled at me.
"Wolf," he said one word and one word only.
"So?" I can play that game too.
"You're no daughter of mine," he snarled to me.
"Why? Because I was bitten?" I paused to force my wolf down again, "Why do you despise wolves so much?"
"You don't need to know," he answered back.
"Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry," I threatened, tensing my muscles and allowing my wolfs aura a little leverage.
My Dad laughed, a cruel, bitter sound that sounded more like her was gargling nails.
"I hoped you at least retained the sense never to come back here?" my dad reached behind him.
I head the sharp click of a gun. I launched backwards just as he pulled the trigger.

I just thought I would let you all know that if you want to check out some work by the same authors so me and my friend as this book, we have published a book through Kindle. It is called One For Sorrow! I'll leave the blurb below and the book link is in my bio!
Anna's death was a quiet one, she didn't scream like most did, the silence spoke volumes to the town. But what she left behind said more.
Eastmere was a regular town in America, home to a large flock of magpies and a small population. Adrian walked the streets of the town every day, as he had done two hundred years ago when he witnessed the witch trials himself. Now in the modern day, he returns to Eastmere, hearing whispers about the myth, about the curse that was supposedly placed on the town. Adrian had the purpose of finding out what his wife did all of them years ago and what the fate of the town was. Surrounded by friends, he embarks on a quest to find out the history of the town, going back all of them years to when the innocent were burnt.
But dying embers can still flicker into blazing flames.
