Three years later

"Hey, hero." There went Finn again about how I'm the "hero". Geez, it's been three years since that whole extravaganza happened, and I still don't have my powers.

"Hey Finn," I started "What are we doing today?" I asked eagerly, hoping to go on an actual mission for once.

"Just more training...," he went on about how we would work on some more running, and defense skills, and then Blake would teach me more combat skills. And afterwards how Emma would teach me more ways on balancing my chi, and all that meditation nonsense. The same schedule as always. No fun things to do, and no missions. I sighed heavily. "... And maybe a small mission." He finished, and my eyes lit up like a candle shining through the darkness.

"Yes! Finally!" I shouted, and Finn let out a big laugh. "What is it!"

"Actually kid, I don't know," he said as I was still practically jumping with joy. "You'll have to ask Blake."

"Well I'm gonna go see what it is," I said running and opening the door. "Bye!" I shout out before closing the door with a loud thump. This is finally the day where I can prove that I am a real elemental, even if I didn't have all my powers yet.

"Blake!" I yelled running around to the flat sand next to the mountain. "Blake, where are you!" And all I could hear was the sound of a hard fist on leather. Blake was doing his usual workout, using his punching bag. He does this every morning.

"Marco, what's up." He smiles, and looks at me.

"Finn told me I could go on my first mission!" I say excitedly, and Blake's smile fades.

"Yeah, about that..."

"You don't think I'm ready yet, don't you!" Suddenly, I feel the urge to argue. I really want to do a mission more than anything, to prove that I can be useful, even without my powers.

"Marco, It's just..."

"Why can't you trust me! I'm sixteen now!" I felt like a little kid trying to prove he could walk across the streets alone.

"Man, oh man... Marco, I'm really sorry. We are starting to get really worried about you. Our mission was supposed to be to tame a wild element, but now the element has gotten out of control, and became devoured by toll. The mission is to dangerous." I sigh, and flop down onto the cold sand, letting my short brown hair mingle with it.

"I'm sorry Blake, I just want to really prove myself to you."

"You already have," he says, sitting on the sand next to me. "You've proven yourself as one of us since day one." I smile and lay on my back.

"Blake! Marco!" Emma yells, running on the side of the steep hills.

"Yes Emma?" Blake questions, coming towards her.

"I've got another mission!" All she has to say is that, and I'm on my feet, brushing all the sand out of my scalp.

"Really? For real!" I already feel as jumpy as I was before.

"Yes another wild element, going crazy almost, toll swarming its body." Emma motion Finn over from the house, and he runs over.

"Yeah, this element is water this time," he starts making his quick sketches in mid air. "We don't know much about it, except that it's surrounded by devoured elements, and evil elementals." He shows how the element is stuck in the outskirts of the city, not far from here.

"Well, what is my role?" I ask, and they all look at me.

"Marco, you've never really seen us in full action before, so today, you're just watching." Emma says, and I sigh. She said those words. Basically the same words they always say. How "I've never seen this" or "you need to learn this new technique". I'll never actually get to do a mission.

"Ugh," I start, slouching a little in place. "But you guys are right... I should watch you in action so I know how to act in snap decisions." They all look up at me.

"Thank you," Emma says. "You've seen through."

"Hopefully if you gain your powers soon, you'll finally work aside us!" Blake pats my back, and give out a chuckle.

"Yeah kid, you'll be a fine element... Mr. Hero." They all laugh, and I join in a little too, but it was mostly nervous laughter. I am sixteen now! I'm not the same kid that they picked off of the road. How would I ever prove myself, if my powers will never come?

Slipping on a warm trench coat, we all ran together to the city. Well, it was more like Finn speeding, and us slowly tagging along at his point of view.

"So here we are," Blake said looking over the city. "Regbow city." I looked at all of the tall buildings, and all the citizens below. Just like how my life used to be, all... normal. But I soon figured out that it was not the life I was supposed to live. And because of that past, I don't have my powers.

"We need to go, before it just gets devoured right there." Emma says, and points in the general direction of where the element is. But it's not that hard to tell, because it's raining in that area, while the rest of the city is completely sunny.

Jumping on the first building, I tumble on my landing, and then looking at the others, I feel quite as useless as they think I am. Finn just glides across, using his neon speed. Emma however, uses vines to connect the buildings, then glides across. Blake though, even though having to go across the building the same way I do, does it a thousand times easier than me. He is more muscular than me, making it easier to glide across the buildings with grace almost.

Jumping building by building is so exhilarating, so free. Having your hair breeze in the wind, knowing that you might save another life. The rush of saving people, the rush of knowing you might die, but everyday, you stay strong and know that you can accomplish anything. But at this rate, I will never know the feeling of saving others. When will my powers ever come.
