I lay in the darkness, letting silence settle over the room. I stared up at the dark ceiling, slowing my breaths and easing myself down deeper into the bed. I hesitantly closed my eyes, slowly pushing my eyelids past halfway. Once again an image of my father flashed before my eyes and my eyes flew open again. How am I going to sleep? I sighed, running my fingers through my hair and sitting up in bed. I got out of bed, tiptoeing towards the door, when I felt a hand on my ankle. I yanked my foot out from its grasp and looked down at where I suspected the hand to be. I traced the silhouette of an arm in the darkness, and realized it was just Donavan. I saw a small grin on his face and I huffed.

"You scared me!" I whispered, but he didn't answer. I bent down to him and realized he was still sleeping. I smiled and began stroking his hair. Suddenly, an arm grabbed me and pulled me down right next to him. My eyes widened as I found myself closer to Donavan's face than I had ever been before. He smelled fresh, almost like a watered down swimming pool. I stared at his peaceful sleeping face, the cute, small smile on his face. Heat crept up my neck as I tried to untangle myself from Donavan's arm without waking him. It was harder than I thought it would be, but eventually, I removed his arm from my side.

I jumped up onto the bed and covered myself with the blanket again, squeezing my eyes closed. I could still smell Donavan now, even though he was at least five feet away from me. My heart fluttered, and I took a deep breath. Calm down, Rosalena.

I sighed, and my eyelids fluttered open, though I could feel them resisting me. I realized how tired I was after that short little incident, and I let my eyes close, falling under the spell of blissful sleep.
