Animus

Love

  The next afternoon, I went to the library with Derek. He showed me this book that had all the demons he hunted. "They're freaky." I said horrified at the pictures. Derek chuckled. I turned the page in the book and saw something called Animus. "What does Animus mean?" I asked. Derek looked at me. "It means the heart of everything." He replied.

  "Is that a type of demon?" I asked. "No, its a sword that can kill any demon." Derek replied. "Seems interesting, do you have the sword?" I asked. "No, sadly." Derek sighed. "Who does?" I asked. Derek sat down in front of the fireplace. "The demon that killed my mother, I was about twelve years old." Derek said.

  "I'm so sorry." I said while sitting down next to him. "I remember taking a walk with her in the forest where I met you. We were just walking then it attacked her, ripping her to pieces. Hearing her scream, seeing her suffer before my eyes, brought me sadness, my father turned that sadness into anger." Derek said.

  "Is your father still alive?" I asked. "No." Derek said firmly. I felt so bad for him. "Maybe he killed his father too?" I thought.

  "Listen, if Alec ever tries anything, you need to tell me." Derek said. I slowly nodded yes. "Why is he so disrespectful towards woman?" I questioned. "I don't know." Derek sighed.

  I didn't know who was worse Alec or Jace. They both seemed like one person. They both are so disrespectful, greedy and awful. All of a sudden I had a flashback. I saw Catherine and me fighting about the blood on her white dress. I could hear myself screaming, "What did you do Catherine!? What did you do!?"

  The flashback ended and chills ran up my spine. Derek looked at me. "Are you alright?"

  I looked into his eyes and slowly nodded yes. There was a silence between us for a second. "Anastasia, I'm sorry." Derek said quietly. "For what?" I asked. He sighed. "For killing your sister."  I looked into his sad eyes. "Derek, I've forgave you already." I said. He slowly nodded, "Okay."
