The next morning, I woke up and got dressed. I wore a long, black dress and I put on my red cape. I slowly went down the wooden stairs in my house it was small and old. I walked in the living room, and saw my mom talking to the Mayor and his son, Jace.

"Anastasia! Come sit down!" My mother beamed. I didn't want to but I had to. I sat down on the couch. It was like a Victorian-goth look. My mother hated that style. The Mayor's son kept smiling at me which made me uncomfortable.

"Anastasia, we have good news for you." My mother said. "We?" I questioned. "The Mayor's son wants to marry you!" My mother said. I looked at Jace and thought. "No!"

Jace handed me a flower and smiled. "For you my bride." I took the flower and faked a smile. "Jace, we must be on our way. Thank you for the tea Mrs.Swan." The mayor said to my mother.

The mayor and the son left, and I stood up angrily. "Marry? Marry! Are you out of your mind?"

My mother stood up. "You're going to marry him. It's for your own good!" My eyes widened. "You're making me marry him, for the money! Aren't you?" I yelled. My mother hit my jaw. "I need it Anastasia!"

I ran out of my house and to the forest. I wanted to escape this cruel world. I wanted to die.
