That night, I was in my room looking through the closet of clothes. I searched from dress to dress but found nothing satisfying for the dance. Then I saw the perfect dress. It was a long, dark red, sleeveless dress. It had black lace on the top and the corset was black. It was beautiful. I put on the dress and stood infront of the mirror. I sighed as thoughts ran through my mind. "What if this is too much? What if I don't fit in?"
I cleared all the negative thoughts and put on my black heels. I walked over to the bureau and opened the first drawer, it was full of makeup. I never really wore makeup, I had only worn it a few times. Mostly for festivals, weddings, and sometimes birthdays. The women in the village weren't supposed to wear makeup unless it was for a special occasion.
I picked up a dark red lipstick and put it on. "Mother would never approve of this, then again she never approved of anything." I thought. I brushed my hair and went downstairs to were the dance was being held.
I walked in through the big wooden doors that led to the ballroom. Everyone was dressed up. Classical music was playing and everyone was drinking wine and talking to eachother.
There was a huge staircase with a red carpet infront of me. I looked around for Derek. I couldn't find him through the crowd. Then we made eye contact. He slowly made his way through all the people to get to me. I walked down the stairs and he took my hand. "You look lovely." Derek said.
I blushed. "Thank you." We walked through the crowd and then Derek's brother approached us.
"Well, well look who we have here, Mr. Mysterious and this lovely girl." Alec said while giving me a wink. Derek rolled his eyes. "Give it up Alec."
"May we dance Anastasia?" Alec asked with a wide mischievous smile across his face. Before I could answer, Alec grabbed me and there I was, dancing with a pervert.
I looked back at Derek who was dancing with another girl. He did not look happy. Alec grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer to him. "So Anastasia, I hear you're Catherine's sister."
I looked at Alec annoyed. "What do you want you son of a bitch?" I murmured. Alec lost his mischievous smile and turned it to a frown. "I didn't quite hear you Anastasia." He growled.
He grabbed my wrist and started squeezing it. "Let me tell you something about your sister, she had it coming."
"Go to hell!" I said while grinding my teeth. "Haha, and guess what Anastasia.?" Alec laughed. I looked into his dark eyes. "What?!" I questioned.
Alec pulled me closer and whispered in my ear. "You're next."
