The next morning, I was in the library looking for an interesting book to read. I looked through the bookshelves yet found nothing. All of a sudden my necklace started to glow. "Derek!" I murmured. I ran out of the library and went to his room, but he wasn't there. I started to panic. I decided to check the dining room, I ran through the halls and without looking I had ran right into Alec.

"Where you off to princess?" He smirked. I ignored his question. "Where's Derek?" I asked concerned. "He's in the piano room why?" Alec asked. I pushed through him and ran to the piano room. When I got there, I saw Derek fighting a creature that was very tall with red eyes. Its body was demented and it had long white hair. It was another demon.

The creature looked at me and crawled towards me fast! Derek took out his knife and slit its throat before it could reach me.

We went back to Derek's room and as soon as we got there Derek collapsed on the floor in front of the fireplace. I ran to him to help. "Derek." I said while placing my hands on his shoulders. "I'm fine." He groaned. He took off his shirt as he groaned in pain. I looked at his back, leaving me in horror. There were two big claw marks across his back. Blood trickled down his back. "Derek! You're bleeding!" I beamed. He sighed, out of breath, he got up and got a cloth and a bucket of water. He tried cleaning up his wounds but struggled to.

"Here, I'll help you." I said while taking the cloth a wiping off all the blood. "Was that a demon?" I asked. Derek ignored me, instead he was staring into the fires flames.

After I treated his wounds he said thank you and got up. He went to leave but I stopped him. "Derek what do you do for a living?" I questioned. He turned and looked at me. "I hunt demons."

I stared straight into his eyes. Was he being serious? He looked down and chuckled. "You know what sucks?" He said while looking up.

His eyes were bloodshot red. Now I was scared. "Ever since I killed Catherine, I can still hear her, and see her. She practically haunts my once pleasant dreams." Derek said angrily while walking towards me.

I slowly backed up and he started laughing. Has he gone mad? His laugh faded to a sigh. "I'm sick of these sleepless nights. I'm sick of fighting demons." Derek said. A tear ran down my cheek I felt sorry for him.

"But there's one thing that pisses me off." He said while coming closer to me. I ended up backing up into the wall. Is he going to kill me?

"Every time I look at you Anastasia, I see Catherine and it drives me insane because you are nothing like Catherine and for some reason I am very protective over you." Derek said firmly.

I couldn't speak. My heart started pounding fast, my stomach twisted, and my words had got me tounge tied. "D-derek, a-are you alright?" I asked nervously. Derek leaned in and we started making out. His soft lips touched mine as his hands wandered throughout my body. He stepped back and looked shocked.

Thoughts spun through my head "Did he really just kiss me?"
Derek said nothing. We stood in a moment of silence then he turned and left.
