The next day, Derek woke me up. I slowly sat up, realizing I was in his bed. "Good morning." He said. "M-morning." I studdered.
"Sleep well?" He asked. I slowly nodded yes. Derek sat at the edge of the bed, beside me and sighed. "I'm sorry you had to see your sister like that."
I looked into Derek's eyes. "W-why didn't she have eyes? Why was she covered in blood? Why were there cuts all over her?" I asked concerned. "Anastasia, just don't ever go in that room again." Derek said while standing up. I got up and followed Derek. "No, I need to know." I held back tears.
"You dont need to know anything." Derek said. "Yes I do!" I cried. Tears poured out of my eyes. Derek turned around and looked at me with his sad eyes. "B-because I did that to her." Derek said quietly. He looked down and stared at the floor then he looked back up at me. "How? How could anyone make that many wounds? She looked like she was stabbed 100 times." I beamed.
"Twenty actually." Derek said. I slowly backed up. "W-what?"
Derek looked down again. "I stabbed her twenty times."I looked down trying to hide my pain. Derek walked towards me. "I'm sorry."
I backed up in fear. "Are you?"
Derek looked into my eyes and slowly nodded yes.At dinner, Derek and me were in the dining room eating. The dining room was really big, the floor had a black and white checkered pattern. The table was really long. There were four chairs on each side, and two chairs at the end.
Derek and I really didn't talk during dinner, it was awkward. All of a sudden, Alec walked in. "Hello love birds."
Derek gave him a mean look. "What do you want Alec?"
Alec slowly smiled and walked towards me. He grabbed me and put a kitchen knife near my throat. Derek got up. "Let me do it, Derek. Let me kill her just like you killed Catherine!" Alec beamed. "You're fucking crazy!" Derek yelled while grabbing the back of Alec's head and banging it on the table. I stood there speechless. "Should I say thank you?" I thought. After dinner, Derek brought me to the library. The library was actually very small, yet it had a huge fireplace against the stoned wall. There was a sofa in front of the fireplace. I sat down on it and stared into the fire's flames.
Derek was looking through the book shelves. He pulled out a book that was a teal color, it has a gold vintage design on the corners. He sat down next to me and opened it. It wasn't a book. It was a little box designed to look like a book. In the box there were two necklaces. They both had a black diamond Derek took one out and gave it to me. "What's this for?" I questioned.
Derek took out the other one and put it on. "If you're ever in danger, my necklace will glow." He said.
I slowly put mine on. "Does mine do the same, but for you?" I asked. "Yes, these necklaces are connected. They send signals to each other." Derek replied.
I looked into his eyes, then back at the fire. Why would he give me this? Was he that protective? Then again, he is the only one I trust in this freaky castle.
