Flamingo Paradise

Chapter 5

     It was their 5th years anniversary and Amirah was getting ready for their date night at a special restaurant to celebrate their 5th anniversary. She has no clue where they will be having it, unfortunately Alexander did not say a word to her even if she force him to. He said it is going to be a surprise which excites her more.

She thought of wearing something pink for tonight but then ended up wearing a short dress coloured in the pink with grey horizontal stripe. This dress was brought online a few weeks back and this was the first time she ever wore it. Amirah check herself out by the mirror which is attached to the wall of her closet. It was really a mess after searching a perfect outfit from her old wardrobe. Decided to clean it up later or even never.

The door to her bedroom open with a small creak, revealing her smiley mother standing proud. "I just can't believe my baby is going on a date tonight with a wonderful man."

     Amirah turn around to face her mother who is nearly in tears like she was releasing her child into a bigger world or something similar. "I know mom. I just can't even believe it myself. Who even knew I would end up with him." She plaster a smile at the thought of all the memories they have shared. Those late night cuddles, those negotiations in Starbuck and just everything.

     The door bell rang. "That's him! Okey mom, how do I look?"

     "Honey, you look gorgeous like always. Remember that, beauty comes from within."

     Amirah giggles, her mom always know her words. "Thanks mom."

     She pick up her purse from the coffee table and kiss goodbye on her mother's cheeks before leaving and waving goodbye. Opening the door, Alexander was there standing waiting in his fancy suit. Amirah step out of her house and close the door behind her.

     "You look beautiful." He grin.

     "You don't look so bad yourself."

     "Shall I lead you the way my lady?" Alexander ask while bowing down like she was his queen. 

     She chuckles at his actions. 'He's such a gentleman.' She thought. "Why yes, you shall lead me the way."

     He smile and offer her his hand. She took the offer and followed where he leads her to. There was something she felt slightly off and turns to look back at her house glassy window. Her mom was watching her through it the whole time. She blush, knowing her mother just witnessed the encounter. Alexander doesn't own a car, or at least he does.

They walk side by side, hand in hand. No one dare to break the comfortable silence between them, as the street lights shine, revealing the sidewalks. They both love to enjoy each other's company, just having someone close to you who really cares and protect you is the best feeling. As they got closer to the Park, Amirah spotted Alexander's car by the Park. She gave him a confuse look but he didn't respond, instead he walk her into the Park's entrance.

Amirah was in shock to what she had saw right in front of her. This Park was not the same as where they usual visit and she was not even paying attention to where they were walking. The places is beautiful, there were different types of flowers like hibiscus and tulips all around the bushes. Alexander let their hands drop so Amirah could walk around to admire the beauty of this Park.

"Where are we?" Amirah ask, still giving her attention to the flowers in front of her. She bend down to look closely at the details. Usually hibiscus died overnight and regrow a new one in the morning, leaving their branches making it seems as it is just a bush.

"We're at the garden behind the building where I usually work." Now that caught her attention. She stood back up and examine her surrounding, there were tall building, probably even luxury looking.

"And where could-" then she was speechless.

Alexander was on his knee with a small box in his hands, holding it in front of her. Amirah covered her mouth with her hands in shock. Fireflies were flying around them creating a gentle atmosphere.

"Amirah, we have been together for 5 years now and I always wonder how a man like me could get a girl like you. Throughout our relationship I always thought how beautiful and amazing you were and how you have impact my life. Since the first day we met, I knew you were special. And ever since I met you, you made me become the person that I'm proud of today. So Amirah, would you have the honour to be my lovely wife?" Opening the small box, there's a diamond ring shining as the street lights hit it, making the ring shine and sparkle.

     Amirah let out a tear of joy before nodding, not sure what to say or even trust her own words. He smiles, taking the diamond ring from the small box and place it around Amirah's finger.

     They hugged as Amirah let out her tears that she has been holding on to while placing her head onto Alexander's chest. He kiss her head to show his love and affection for her. Therefore, to sum it up, it was a very memorable day for the lovely couple.
