Lotta Lovin' Latte

Chapter 5

It was 3:00, which meant 15 minutes before school officially ends. Right now, it was a free period. In this time, Luna was out in the school garden with Benny. Since they have had a crush on each other for so long, it was like they had been a couple for years.

“Luna, I was wondering if you would like to go to Lotta Latte for a... well a latte?” Benny asked.

Luna smiled. She opened to her say “yes”, but she thought about what her mother said to her this morning. She really should go back home and pay her punishment, but Benny invited her for a latte! This might never happen again. So she had to take advantage of this opportunity. “I would love too. Can we go now? So we can get back by 3:15?” Luna asked.

“Sure...?” Benny answered not getting why. “Let's go.” He started walking towards the coffee shop, Luna followed.

Luna tapped his shoulder. “Um, there's no one around,” Luna said looking around.

“So?” Benny asked.

“Do you want to fly?” Luna asked getting excited.

“Uh, yeah!” Benny answered. He started to jump. “I've always wanted to fly!”

Luna smiled. “Great!” Luna gave her arm for Benny to hold. “Hold on, or else you'll fall.”

Benny grabbed her arm. “Ready.” With that Luna flew up and in a matter of a few seconds they were at Lotta Latte. Benny let go of her arm. “Wow! That was fast,” he told her.

Luna smiled. Benny led her into the little coffee shop. He showed her a chair. “What would you like to drink my lady?”

Luna let out a little chuckle. “Are you referring to Dungeons and Dragons?” she asked.

“Maybe,” Benny answered looking guilty. Luna hugged him.

“Anyhow, I'd love a mint chocolate latte please. I haven't had a latte since I've been turned,” Luna told him. Benny nodded and went up to go order.

Luna heard the song Take It Off by Ke$ha. She reached in her bag and pulled out her phone. On the top of the screen it said “Tara”. Luna pressed the green answer button. “Hello?”

“Hey, Luna,” Tara said on the other line. “Where are you?”

Luna smiled. “On a date.”

“Ugh! This little love fest with you and my brother is going to get annoying. Too bad you can't go to far,” Tara said sounding like she was taunting Luna.

“Stop it! I only wish I could do that. If the Vampire Council found out that I had... I probably would get killed,” Luna told her.

“Duh! Humans have it better,” Tara said.

“Sure you do,” Luna said rolling her eyes. “At least I have a boyfriend.”

“Ethan said I'll have one soon!” Tara talked back.

“You're really going to listen to Ethan?” Luna asked.

“Yes, 'Erica'. I am,” Tara answered. “You did.”

“Gosh, this sounds like one of my fights with my brother,” Luna said.

“Got your latte,” Benny said handing a cup to Luna.

“Bye, Tara. Got to go,” Luna said speaking into her phone. “Thank you, Benny. You are so sweet.”

Benny shrugged. “It was no problem. Really.”

Luna sipped her latte and coughed. “Ew, now I know why vampires don't have human food.” She set her cup down. “Sorry, Benny. Here is $2 back,” Luna apologized handing him two one dollar bills.

“No, you can keep it,” Benny said pushing her hand back.

“Why? I didn't even drink it,” Luna said. “You really should take it.”

“No, it was my treat,” Benny insisted. “Just keep the money. I'm fine.”

“Are you sure?” Luna asked.

“Yes,” Benny answered. “I'm sure.” Then Benny leaned close, and Luna did too. Just as they were about to kiss they heard “And they. Turn me on. When they. Take it off. Everybody take it off.”

Luna's face turned red. “Sorry, that is my phone. I'll be right back.” Luna took her phone into a little isolated room that came right before the bathroom. “What now Tara?”

“What is Rory doesn't like me?” Tara asked sounding whiny.

“I don't know! He says he likes Erica,” Luna told her getting annoyed.

“Erica?! Why not me? Does he ever talk about me?” Tara asked sounding freaked out.

“I don't know!” Luna told her. “He only talks to me about...” Luna stopped to see Benny looking at her. Benny was now right in front of her. Did he have to go to the bathroom? I don't know but he came close to Luna and gave her a long and powerful kiss. Luna felt herself feel at peace. She knew that she was dead, but she felt alive right then. It was magical.

“Only talks about what? About what? Luna? Luna! Are you still there?” Luna could hear Tara sounding concerned through her phone.

Right then, Benny grabbed Luna's phone and turned it off without leaving there lip-lock. They just stood there and kissed. No one stared, and no one saw them. It was perfect.
