Chapter 8
When Luna woke up she heard her mom walking down the hallway. Luna looked to her left and saw Benny fast asleep next to her. She shook him to wake him up.
He sprang up. “You're not my father,” he said. Luna put her finger to her lips. “What am I doing here?”
“It doesn't matter,” Luna told him. “If you want to come over again you have to follow me.” She lead him into the closet. “Just stay in here until I get you. Okay?” He nodded his head understanding.
Luna then run and jumped into bed like she had never gotten up. Her mother opened the door. “Good morning, sweetie,” her mother said sitting down on the bed.
“Morning, mom,” Luna replied.
“I'm sorry I had to take away your date on Friday night,” her mother apologized.
“It's alright,” Luna told her.
“Who was it with?” her mother asked curiously.
Luna sat up. “Um...” Luna stopped to think. Would she tell her it was Benny? Oh well, she did. “Benny.”
“Benny Weir?” her mother asked puzzled. “The same one that was here last night? The,” her mother leaned close to her, “the strange one?”
Luna nodded. “He's not that weird,” Luna told her mother.
“He's pretty abnormal. He seems to geeky,” her mother said.
“That's what is so adorable about him!” Luna exclaimed.
Her mother shook her head. “I don't want you seeing him, Lunes.”
“What? Why?” Luna asked getting concerned.
“He's strange, honey,” her mother replied.
Sometimes my mom makes no sense, Luna thought. “But, mom, we love each other!”
“I don't care,” her mother said standing up. “I don't want my son-in-law to be a freak!”
Did she really say son-in-law?, Luna thought. Mom is thinking about the possibility of us getting married? She is one smart mommy! “He's not a freak!”
“Oh, yes he is,” Mrs. Keaner said. “Today I'm going to find you a boyfriend who I like. Who is not a freak,” her mother said walking out. She called down the hall, “How about that Ethan boy? He seems nice. Not as much as a geek as Benny.”
Luna sighed. This was terrible. Benny came out of the closet and sat on her bed. “It's okay,” he comforted her.
Luna shook her head. “She wants me to go out with Ethan,” Luna explained.
“I know, I heard,” Benny said. He saw a tear run down her face. He hugged her. “No, don't cry. This is going to be okay. I promise. We just have to show your parents that I'm not as strange as they think. Don't worry. When is your date with Ethan?”
Luna shrugged. “Knowing my mom, it'll be tonight.”
“Today is a Tuesday though,” Benny said.
“I know, my mom doesn't like overnight visitors,” Luna explained.
“Anyhow, we will get Ethan in on it too. It's the perfect plan,” Benny said.
Luna gave a him a long hug. “Thank you so much.”
He hugged her back. “It's really no problem.”
“We have to get ready for school,” Luna said letting go of there hug and getting up.
“I don't have any clothes beside these,” Benny said pulling at his shirt.
“Oh, right,” Luna said. She then went over to her closet. “Well, what should I wear?” Luna asked looking through her closet. She pulled out a pale yellowish pink dress that went down to mid thigh. It had a pretty pale blue floral pattern on the top. “How about this?”
Benny nodded. “It's really pretty,” Benny said. “Not very vampirey though.”
“I know,” Luna said taking off her shirt. Benny watched intently. “Vampires always seem so drab, so I try to brighten them up.” She then took off her shorts and slipped the dress on.
“You have colorful underwear,” Benny told her not paying attention to what he was saying.
“Thank you...?” Luna replied straightening out her dress. She then turned and went back into her closet. “Ugh, where are my black converse?”
Benny sat there in a daze watching her. He then snapped out of it and saw her black converse by her bedroom door. He grabbed them and and brought them over to her. Luna turned around and saw him there and took the converse. “Thank you,” she said slipping them on.
Benny just stood there. He then grabbed her waist and started to kiss her. She hung her arms around him and kissed him as well.
This is perfect, Benny thought.
This would be perfect, Luna thought. Too bad I have a date with Ethan tonight.
They kept on kissing like there wasn't a care in the world. “Luna? Have you seen my favorite green hoodie?” Rory asked coming into Luna's room.
Luna and Benny couldn't here him so they kept on kissing. Rory then turned the corner to where Luna's bedroom bathroom was and them kissing in the doorway to the bathroom. Rory gasped. “Benny? What are you doing here?”
Benny and Luna quickly pulled away from each other. “I accidentally spent the night,” Benny answered acting innocent.
“When you say you spent the night,” Rory started, “do you mean...?”
“No,” Benny quickly said.
“Okay,” Rory said. “Good.” He turned to leave, then he turned back. “We have to leave, it's time for school.”
Luna and Benny nodded. “Wait, Rory,” Luna called after him. Rory turned around. “I'm going to walk to school with Benny. Okay?”
Rory sighed. “Fine, whatever.” He went downstairs.
Luna turned back to Benny. “Come on, let's go through the window so my parents don't see you.” Benny nodded and she grabbed his hand. They went out the window and walked to school, hand in hand.
