Despite all the drama from last night, my birthday wasn't all that bad. The last thing on my mind before I went to sleep and the first thing I thought of this morning was Tai. I really want to give us a chance, but I'm scared. Tai is really sweet, but I don't want to put all my time and energy into him only to have my feelings hurt again. I really like him, but I think we should just take our time and work on being friends for a while.

Now, as far as Rich goes, I'm done with him. I don't want to see him or talk to him again as long as I'm alive. From him hitting me and then cheating on me, I can't deal. I don't need that headache or that drama in my life. Since Delia's who he really wants, he can have her.

My phone vibrates letting me know that I have a text message. Of course, it's Tai.

Good morning beautiful!

A big smile spread across my face and my stomach begins to tingle. This boy is just too good to be true!

- Good morning :)

Tai: How did you sleep love

- Pretty good considering all the craziness!

Tai: That's good. See u at breakfast.

As I sit up and begin to stretch, Emory stirs in her sleep. She must have had a lot of homework to do because she was sleeping by the time I got back last night and she's usually up and gone before me. I grab some black leggings and pink and white striped crew neck sweater and go get ready.

I walk into the dining hall and see Tai sitting at our usual table. He begins to smile then stands when he sees me.

"What's up?" He wraps his arms around me.

"Hey," I smile and embrace him back.

"I been waitin' on you to eat. Let's get in line."

Tai and I walk over to the line and wait to get our food.

With our food and drinks in hand, we make our back to the table and begin to eat. There silence between us for a few minutes, then Tai speaks.

"You wanna hit up this party with me tomorrow night?"

    "Party?" I wipe my mouth.

    "Yeah."

    "Where is it?"

"In the city, it's a house party my homeboy hostin'."

"House party? I don't know," I shake my head.

"C'mon Kay. It'll be fun, pwease?" He begs with his lips pouted.

    "I guess," I shrug.

"Cool, tell Emory she can come along too. The more the merrier."

I nod my head and continue to eat.

After breakfast I head to class. The rest of the day goes by pretty fast. After my last class ends, I head back to my room. Emory is still in her bedclothes and she's sitting at her desk.

"Hey Emmy," I smile. "Did you even go to class today?"

"Girl, no. I've been trying to finish these paintings for my Color and Comp class."

"Oh, so I guess that means you won't want to go to this party with me and Tai tomorrow night, huh?"

    "Party? What kind of party?"
