I turned over and snuggled deeper into the warm softness of my pillow and comforter.
“My pillows, and comforter-wait!” I jumped up looking around. I was in my room, in my bed.
“How the hell did I get here?” I mumbled pushing the covers off and standing up. I noticed I was still in my work clothes, so that means that Azrael must have carried me up her, seeing as no one else would have taken the time to care for me in such a way. I quickly rushed to my closet to change into more comfortable clothes, fixed my hair and began my hunt for Azrael.
Walking down the hallway toward the staircase I looked around for any traces of him.
“Looking for someone?” I stopped in my track and turned to see him standing by a door.
“I was looking for you actually.” I answered walking back, noticing that the room was right next to mine.
“Well here I am, now what do you need from me, I will gladly give to you.” He smirked. A streak of excitement went through my body as I thought of all the possible meaning that came from that comment.
“I just wanted to say thank you, for carrying me up to my room, you could have woken me up.” I answered after a moment to calm myself.
“I could have but If I didn’t I wouldn’t have gotten a hug from you or know where your room is.” Azrael stated matter-of-factly.
“Okay.” I said raising and eyebrow at his blunt confession. “I’m going to make some dinner seeing as its almost night now, would you like something to eat?”
“Yes, I would like to try anything you make.” Azrael smiled brightly rubbing the back of his neck, giving him a boyish look.
“We a cook, you know.” I muttered as I led him down to the kitchen.
“Yea but they don’t really cook from the heart.” Azrael stated as followed a little too close behind me.
Reaching the kitchen I greeted and introduced the cook, and decided to cook some bowties noodles with a mix of other things. By the time I finished cooking and shared a plate for the cook, Danny, the butler, Gregory, Azrael, and myself, everyone had a smile on their face and was begging for seconds. Soon the maids joined us in the kitchen and they continued to praise me. In the midst of the chef telling us a story of his many travels and food tasting, Gregory looked down at his watch and jumped up from his seat.
“Quickly everyone back to work, Mr. Miler will be here in less than ten minutes!” He announced. Everyone groaned but quickly shuffled around to clean up and get back to their original assignment.
“Is this a normal thing that happens?” Azrael whispered as I began to put the cleared dishes in the dishwasher.
“Yea, my father isn’t really a nice man, when he doesn’t get his way, and in general.” I answered.
“Do you need any help in preparing their meal?” I asked looking over at the different pots, that Danny, had on the stove.
“You two are still here?” He chuckled. “Go enjoy the rest of your night, shoo!” He fanned his hands at us enforcing his words.
“So, I’ve met Tamara, and Thomas, where is the step mother?” Azrael asked as he followed me up to my room.
“Well she’s at an all day spa, she should be back around ten.” I sighed laying on my bed.
Over the next few weeks I began to notice Azrael staring at me intently, sometimes for longs hours, and he would flirt with me lightly, at work and at home, and on the nights that my father would beat me and leave bruises, I lied to him and told him different stories from me slipping in the shower to me tripping on the steps. Not once did he judge me, he just held me and told me I would be alright, as if he knew the real reason behind my wounds. I began to notice that I felt comfortable around him, he made me feel special, wanted, cared for, even dare I say loved?
