GISELLE'S POV :
I dragged myself to climb up the staircase with the little amount of energy left in my pathetic human body. This entire week has been an unending train of torment for me. I had been waking up early every morning to perform channelling with Bonnie, because it needs a powerful natural element, and breaking dawn was our only available option. I also had to stay up till late at night to work with Dahlia in secret.
"Look at you! Fully energised after an early morning jog!" Elijah appeared on top of the staircase and he was secretly laughing at my worn-out state behind that polite grin.
"Shut up, Elijah! You know I hate any form of exercises." Unable to move any further, I settled down on the third step itself.
"And you eat like a lioness, little Strega! It's truly remarkable how you manage to stay in shape without proper workouts."
"Ha-ha! Hilarious! Please do remind me to laugh later!" I stated sarcastically.
"I'm serious, Giselle and considering your current figure, I think your new dress would fit you perfectly. What occasion do you plan on wearing it by the way?"
"What dress?" I asked nonchalantly but Elijah seemed rather confused as he pointed towards my room.
"That new dress on your bed?" I shook my head and shrugged, not knowing which dress he was talking about. I have a whole closet of casual dresses, Elijah Mikaelson!
"Ah... wonderful! You just ruined my surprise, brother!" Elijah's gaze averted onto his half-sibling who appeared at the bottom of that staircase.
"By the way, I left the invitation on your desk too, brother. There's a dance tonight that I'm hosting exclusively." To which, Elijah simply nodded smilingly.
Without giving any warning, Nik scooped me up in bridal style and began ascending the stairwell. The usual me would have kicked and screamed and created a chaotic scene but this time, I just let him carry me since I had zero energy left to fight him. I curled up in his arms and cast my gaze onto his handsome features, admiring his charms one by one. Although I never once took my eyes off his face as he carried me to my room, he still didn't utter a single word or even looked at me. However, his infamous crooked smile that was etched onto his lips along the way was already enough for me.
Once we were inside my grand guest room, I was gently placed on the giant bed as he knelt down before me and reached for the large-sized gift box that rested on my comforter. When he opened it, my mouth gaped open involuntarily as I was plain awestruck. It revealed an elegant long dress in glorious gold, adorned with perfect pearls and crystal stones. It was stunningly gorgeous as I caught myself failing to avert my gaze from the beautiful material. But then, as always, he managed to grab all my attention by simply taking my hands in his and kissed them.
"An ethereal dress for my angel." He flashed his most sincere smile but my brain decided to remind me of a rather unpleasant information as I yanked my hands away from his at once.
"Same trick you used with Miss Forbes?"
Ignoring his response, I stomped away towards my dressing table and began to undo my messy braid. Instead of trying to convince me otherwise, the man simply sighed at my jealousy before reaching behind me. He wrapped his right arm around my waist and the other across my shoulders, and I froze at my spot like a bad habit. Luckily, I was quick enough to wear my poker face before he noticed the blush forming on my cheeks.
