GISELLE'S POV:
I could only watch Bonnie in silence while she helped Caroline to lessen her pain. As a Vampire, her broken bones healed almost immediately but the pain was still there. Only the magic that's been practised for a millennium or more could do that and I was well aware of it, given my own share of similar strength. Although I did offer to cast my own version of Healing Spell, both Caroline and Bonnie were more than hesitant to experience two powerful witchcrafts simultaneously.
So, I simply sat there with both my arms and legs crossed as I observed Dahlia. She was muttering incantations in a foreign tongue that I couldn't quite comprehend. However, I still noticed her repeating them in different orders.
"Bonnie... Don't you remember any part of the Expression Magic you performed?" The fact that I had zero experience with such witchcraft slightly annoyed my witchy sense. Since I am a reviver of the essence of original witchcraft, involvement with Dark Arts was strictly forbidden for me. So, I've only read about it but never tried before.
"I'm afraid not, Giselle. Everything was blank after that massacre." Discomfort, was definitely what Bonnie felt when she answered. However, she still tried to help.
"But my mom once told me... that Dark Magic asks you to tap into dark places, places of temptation, places you can't handle. I don't know what that means but I... hope that could hint something out for you... Maybe?"
Unfortunately, it didn't. Zero experience with Dark Arts, remember? With no other options left, I closed my eyes and focused on the voice of nature. I knew I'd be in trouble if I outrightly ask about the forbidden witchcraft. So, I decided to approach from an advisable angle.
"Spirits, are there any other immortal witches apart from me?"
"No, Giselle. You're the only Balance Keeper."
"Okay... Then, what about Witches who don't serve nature?"
"Practitioners of Dark Arts. Yes, there used to be a number of them in the past but I'm not sure about now. Why would you ask that, my dear?"
Favourite Spirit came upon my call as usual. However, there was an obvious tremor in her voice.
"Nothing much actually... Just making sure about who I'm going against. Can I be defeated by Dark Arts? I mean, can my magic be defeated by it? I know my magic is a thousand years old but what if I combat with an equally strong form of Dark Magic?"
There was only silence for a solid minute in the air and honestly, it was the first time. As I was starting to feel a little edgy, Favorite Spirit decided to speak again.
"Listen carefully, my dear... The only person who's capable of destroying your magic is yourself. Even the strongest Spirits themselves can only diminish your soul but not your witchcraft. Definitely not after a millennium of strength you've gained."
"Okay, then... Can I by any odd chance... involve against Dar-"
My conversation with Favorite Spirit was interrupted when I felt someone shaking my shoulders, very vigorously. Yanked back by the immense pain, I had to cut short my questions and opened my eyes to find a very concerned Caroline.
"What is it, Forbes?"
"You fell asleep sitting like that! Like a statue. Frozen!" She freaked out in shock.
"I wasn't sleeping, Forbes. Didn't Bonnie tell you that I-" That's when I noticed Bonnie's absence and Caroline pointed towards a tree, beside which Bonnie was talking on the phone. She seemed rather anxious.
