GISELLE'S POV:

"Giselle... Why do we have to go there?" Bonnie kept sulking and whining all the way.

"Because we need to investigate that place."

"We could have gone to the Abandoned Cottage. My ancestors could help us." I stopped in my track and turned towards Bonnie while she kept shifting her weight from leg to leg in agitation.

"Bonnie, none of the Bennett witches could find the cure for immortality except for Qetsiyah. Trust me! I knew most of them. Emily Bennett was my closest friend and my deal with Rebekah is that I get to talk to Qetsiyah after I find the cure for an Original. So, the Abandoned Cottage is our last resort. Now stop sulking, Bennett."

I whipped around and walked ahead but Bonnie didn't move at all. Her helpless gaze remained glued to the ground. So, Caroline decided to speak on her best friend's behalf.

"Emm... Giselle, don't you know what happened there? It's traumatizing for us."

"Caroline sweetie, if it is traumatizing for a witch who performed the massacre, imagine how a witch who had been in a massacre would feel?" I threw my words in the most casual manner, leaving both of them startled at my retort. I began walking ahead without waiting for them while they rushed after me with tonnes of doubts.

"You... You have experienced it before? In a massacre?" Bonnie sounded genuinely shocked. She must have held me at a very high standard which made it all the more impossible for her to believe that I, myself had been in a massacre before.

"Yeap." I popped the 'P' a little more and that abruptly stopped them in their track. Caroline was exhaling heavily and her green eyes were ready to pop out of their sockets any minute.

"And you survived? Whoa!" She exclaimed at her own statement. "Of course, you would. You're an immortal!" I could only laugh at her miscalculation.

"I was...'blessed' with immortality only after the massacre, Forbes." And just as I expected, they failed to note the sarcasm in my tone for that specific word. We continued walking while the curious girls kept firing questions at me.

"Okay, how exactly were you 'blessed' with immortality, Giselle?" Caroline asked from my right, her green eyes sparkling in excitement.

"Were you caught during the Salem Witch Trials?" Bonnie was on my left, her brows creased in concern.

"Right now girls, I can only answer one of your doubts. My immortality story... It's a quite long one, you see..." Reminiscences about that fateful day floated towards my mind but I shook them off at once. "So, I'll tell you something you wouldn't know instead."

"What would that be?" I shot a sideways glance at the Bennett witch.

"Answer me first, Bennett. How many Witch trials were officially held so far?" She pursed her lips, thinking hard.

"The word 'officially' stands for trials without the usage of any form of witchcraft. Trials carried out by ordinary people on witches on a wide scale." I explained further.

"Two." She answered confidently.

"Wrong. When was the first one held?" This time Bonnie delayed a few minutes.

"Around... The 17th centuries..?" Caroline studied the sly smile on my face before she turned to Bonnie hesitantly.

"I... think you're wrong again, Bon." Indeed she was. I knew I couldn't expect her to acknowledge incidents from the 11th centuries because only those involved were aware of that brutality.
