GISELLE'S POV:

"Just so you know, I'm so very glad that you've agreed to assist, Elle. Thank you so much." Rebekah thanked sincerely while we fastened our seat belts before the flight takes off.

"Yeah... you're welcome Bex, I guess..." I answered without looking at her. My mind was not really ready to hear anything from anyone yet. Not especially when their story had a disturbing number of loose ends in it.

"And Rebekah... the details you gave me are still blurry, actually! I did some mind refreshing and dug back old stuff. Qetsiyah's version of the Cure actually wouldn't work for an Original, right? That's what we found out back then... " I asked casually while fumbling for my novel from my bag but that didn't stop me from noticing her actions any lesser. She was biting her lip nervously, figuring out what to reply.

"No... I mean, yes! Yes, it doesn't exactly but... That's why we need you. That's exactly why we need you for. You need to alter it a little to make it work. With your power. Yes, that's it! No buts. Bloody hell!" I bet the last part was meant to be a mumble but I heard that too.

I clearly recognized the tension in her voice as she obviously stumbled with her choice of words. After that absolute blabber of an answer, she exhaled in what seemed like... relief. Since my brain was too tired to start another interrogation session, I simply nodded at her and decided to ask just one last question. Hoping to get at least one proper answer for the day.

"Fine... How am I supposed to make it work? Is there any manual or something?" Fortunately this time, she didn't blabber blindly. Instead, she pondered over it for a solid minute as I waited patiently. However, my wait was only welcomed by another empty note.

"Can I explain after we reach Mystic Falls over a nice cup of tea at the Grill? It's bloody twisted." Giving up to whatever this was about, I simply nodded. The Original sister was definitely filtering her facts. Yet, I chose to ignore all of it at that moment and let sleep consume me for at least a short while.

♣♣

I opened my eyes to a badly blurred vision and all I could see was black spots. Slowly then, I recalled. The wolf fight. Startled by the recollection of my highly unsound last location, I tried to flip over my stomach to find myself still laying in the dark woods. There was blood everywhere. Even on my own gown. The impervious sight of excess blood was unbearable to my eyes. In a swift, the memory of my mother's death flashed across my mind and left me shaken.

Traumatic.

Inhaling the thick scent of blood was suffocating my senses. Unknowingly my body began to tremble and I was panting heavily. I realized how I was suffering from yet another panic attack. Just then, I heard a familiar howl from afar and my eyes caught a glimpse of the very same Alpha, who was now heading in my direction again. I tried to move but my muscles failed me. Slowly, my consciousness decided to ditch me as well.

The last thing I recalled before completely blacking out was somebody carrying me.

Once again... I opened my eyes to a continuous thudding sound. It was very consistent and rapid too. Soon, I recognised the source of it. It belonged to somebody's heart. I touched the ground beneath me and instantly felt its softness. A mattress... I was in bed. I couldn't open my eyes fully as my muscles were still heavy of soreness but luckily, my consciousness was still partly present.
