The crying baby.

I noticed that there aren't any philipeno stories on the website so I will write this one.  I heard it from my family. 

If you happen to be alone at night be careful. If you are in the woods be extra careful. And if you are alone at night in the woods try to find light or a friend soon. 

In the Philippines there is a legend of a evil spirit who takes the form of a baby. It cries at night and if you see it ,run. But it may hypnotize you.  It is very dangerous and is thought of as a demon trying to catch unknowing souls. It is called the Tiyanak. 

Once you pick it up it transforms into its true shape and attacks the victim. It can also be known to abduct people and eat them. The Tiyanak can also shapeshifter. 

Countermeasures 

• when going into a forest first turn your clothes inside out and backwards. This is thought to make you immune to it hypnotizing you. 

• carry garlic or salt. You can also carry kalamansi (it's like a small lemon only green) and salt in a plastic bag. 

• dont go near a baby's cries at night. 

•  Be careful traveling alone. 

• make loud noises.  (Like ones at New Years )

• running away. 

• travel with a buddy.
