There were exactly six marks on my neck, still red and swollen. The dark pools underneath my eyes had dragged the lowest they had in days. My blood stained shirt turned slightly brown from the exposure to oxygen over the night.

Last night I hadn't known when I fell asleep. No matter how long I continued to tread over the thoughts, I concluded that I must have simply slipped into unconsciousness.

There was so much blood. Staining my bed sheets along with my neck and hands. I quickly turned on the faucet, scrubbing away at the scarlet memories that would forever haunt my restless mind.

The flu symptoms had gotten worst from the previous day, my legs felt like jello beneath me while the blazing heat spread from my forehead to my tender neck.

The water beneath me began to sway along with my shaking hands. My consciousness slipped out from my grasp entirely, the ground seeming to come closer and closer to me.

-

A large amount of liquid sluggish crawled down my throat, my reflexes were quick to spit it back out. I opened my eyes, coughing the vile substance out onto the space next to me.

I was stuck at square one again.

'You're supposed to swallow it, not throw it back up.' Sighing, the person beside me poured another dosage onto the spoon.

I hadn't recognized the person who held out the spoon to my lips again, but his odd appearance certainly stood out. A white lab coat covered the majority of his apparel, round rimmed glasses resting on the bridge of his nose.

The pastel lilac in his hair was exotic, almost too unnatural to be real.

Opening my mouth, he stuck the medicine in and I choked it down, grimacing at the taste. He placed the spoon down and stuck a thermometer in moments later, placing a protective strip of paper on first.

'Who are you?' I spoke around the stick, feeling it jab against the underside of my tongue painfully.

Clearing his throat, he pointed to a tiny badge attached to the breast pocket of the coat.

'Excuse me miss, how rude of myself. I'm executive immediate doctor, Kim Namjoon. I was called as soon as you were found collapsed in the bathroom this morning.'

'Who called?' I was beginning to feel the curiosity peaking, surely no one had been awake that early. And if he was phoned immediately, then the person most likely came in shortly after I was out.

'Young lad, Jungkook was his name I believe. Said you were out cold with blood everywhere.'

Removing the thermometer, he frowned and took off the plastic coating.

'It seems you're still battling a high fever, but this serum should work just fine. It also seems that your vocal cords are a bit strained and your throat is rubbed raw. Are you sexually active miss?'

Gagging on the water I drank from a cup on the nightstand, I could feel my cheeks redden form the crude and rather odd question.

'I-I'm sorry?'

'Well, in addition to the rawness in your throat, your lower limbs seem to be quite tense. Not to mention, there was a large blood stain on your shorts. I only had to ask.' Shrugging, he leaned back in the seat.

'No sir, I can't say that I am.' I was suddenly very self-conscious of his raking stare, trying to cover as much of my body with the blanket as possible.

'Fine, fine. It's simply that I've been working under this family for years. Most cases dealing with sickened females have been results of severe punishments. Severe, severe punishments so I couldn't exclude you from the rest.'

'What types of punishments?'

He laughed, clearly amused in a topic I saw no humor in.

'You know, punishments. Whipping, candle burns, rope marks, the likes.'

'No bites?' I pressed him with answers, hoping that he would get the hint that I wanted to get as far away from the home as possible.

'Only a few, I'm told that this is an Illex household which doesn't settle too well with myself.' As if on cue, he gathered his objects and materials up before standing and stretching out his limbs.

'Take two more doses of that today or the fever may worsen. I'd get someone else to help out with that.' Taking large strides towards the door, he was gone like that.

No one seemed to be concerned with the fact that there was a human amongst a field of vampires, one that had been critically ill and lacking plenty of blood.

Not even the doctor.

I began to think on how unusual he seemed, never opening up completely but telling just the right amount of information. On his badge, there had been a symbol of three claw marks, right below his name tag.

I figured that it was just the firm or unit that he had been working under, but when he had explained his near loathing for Illex's, I thought back to who the leader of the Allaria's had been.

K.N.

Kim Namjoon.

It all made perfect sense now, but why had he been working as a house doctor under an Illex? Surely he would have been far more busy dealing with his own kind.

Perhaps he wasn't the leader of the Allaria's, however coincidental it seemed.

I put all my thoughts to a halt as I climb underneath the sheets and fell asleep once more.
