I hadn't known exactly how much time had passed until I looked up at the sky. The sun was well above our heads, signifying that it was somewhere around noon, perhaps even one or two o'clock.
Sitting in the flower covered field, a peaceful wave had crashed over me and I suddenly had forgotten my place in anger from the start. Jimin sat back to back with myself, fiddling with something in his hands but not allowing me to see it until the final product was created.
I decided to ask him a few questions, my curiosity overriding the will to stay quiet.
'Jimin?'
'Hm?'
'What kind of person was Taehyung's sister?' I could feel him stiffen slightly before shifting to extend his legs.
'She was perfect.' He left it at that, not diving into details of any sort and leaving me wanting to know more.
'Sae-Bin must have been very pretty to catch your eye.' I chuckled to myself, attempting and slightly coaxing him to add on.
'There was a certain air to Taehyung's entire family. When we were all younger, I remember looking at his mother and thinking she was a beautiful women and it must have passed onto her children. His father was a man of high status; never really associating with the other groups or businesses. He left them alone and in return gained their respect.'
He sniffed quietly before moving on.
'Sae-Bin was nothing like Taehyung. She always kept to herself and was never self-centered or selfish. Every time her birthday came around, I would always gift her with a book that she wanted or a bottle of sea sand. Their parents never allowed the both of them to visit the neighboring sea shore or woods, and I was never sure why. But she would always be so ecstatic when I would hand her the sand dollars or sea shells.'
'Kind hearted people like her never deserve death.' Releasing a taxing sigh, he leaned back further against my backside.
'She was hit with pneumonia during the winter, and never saw the spring. They say she just stopped breathing all together one night. It was her birthday. Taehyung and I had just come back from our visit to the nearest seaside when we heard the news. I can't say who was more devastated. I'm still haunted, you can never really overcome someone's existence so easily.'
Just from listening to his past, my heart felt soft and I felt horrible for assuming that his sister was another copy of Taehyung's personality. In fact, they seemed to be the complete opposite of one another.
'How old was she when she passed away?'
'It was on her 18th birthday, but it was quite strange. We were actually planning on eloping the following month. I knew her parents would never approve, but I suppose it just wasn't meant to work out in that sort of way.'
I was silent, taking in the waver in his normally strong voice; the way he had gone quiet as well but continued to play with whatever he held in his hands.
'Jimin, I'm so sorry. She seemed like such a soft spoken person. I think I'd want to meet her, if she was still with us.'
'But she is. You can never really die, Ji-U. I've seen her with my own eyes, wandering around her grave on her birthday, beckoning me to come closer. She's still here, I know it.'
There was nothing more I could add on, and I found my eyes drifting over back to her lonesome grave, looking at the tossed letters on the mound.
'Are those letters written by you?'
'No, they're from Taehyung. I leave the flowers every year.'
My heart swelled at his commitment to Sae-Bin, even in the afterlife he was constantly taking care of her. Jimin was truly dedicated to the one he loved.
Jimin was feeling lonely of his loss while Taehyung had been forced to get over it, and substituted his affairs in place.
I felt empathetic towards him, wanting to give him support. To know that he had someone there for him.
'Ji-'
'Close your eyes and turn around.'
Furrowing my eyebrows, I intriguingly closed my eyes and spun my body around, facing him. He shifted my hair off of my shoulders, placing something on the top of my head.
'Okay, open your eyes.'
I immediately looked up, patting the area on the top of my head. My fingers brushed past the soft petals of flowers.
I lowered the flowers from my head, eyeing the beautifully crafted flower crown of an assortment of pink and pale yellow bloomers.
'I want you to keep it. Once they die out, you know where to find me.' Laughing, he took it from my fingers and placed it on my head once more.
At the exact moment he peered into my eyes and smiled, I couldn't help but stare at the sun's glint on his face, brightening up his entire appearance and making him seem almost angelic.
And I couldn't help but lean him and press my lips to his own as the breeze picked up around his slightly, blowing away the uncertainty I felt moments before.
The only deterrent keeping me from wrapping my arms around him was Sae-Bin's grave sitting a few feet away.
