"Why don't you just ask her out?" Calum asked. He had asked this question about a million times.

"She's my friend, and if I did like her like that she has a boyfriend" I replied. My hands tightened around the steering wheel. This question would constantly pop up, and I started to get annoyed by it. We pulled up onto the driveway.

"And there he is now''

Calum looked over to the house next door. Brock and Zoë were leaning against his pick-up truck, they were talking to each other.

"Why Brock though?" Calum asked.

"I've been asking that question to myself everyday" I laughed, taking the keys out.

"HEY ZOË!" Calum and I waved.

"Hey guys!" She waved back. As we were walking over to the front door, I glanced back at Zoë and Brock they were kissing each other goodbye. I closed my eyes for a few seconds. Seeing them kiss was a normal everyday thing. But I just didn't like it.

As I was unlocking the door I saw Brock's truck pass by the house. Then, I heard Zoë telling us to wait.

She was running across both yards. Her brown hair bouncing each step she took. The moon shined on her face.

"No Ashton no" I thought, I couldn't fall in love with her. She was my best friends. We have been friends since 3rd grade. Once everyone forgot about catching "cooties" from the girls and guys. Zoë really didn't go along with that "game" I guess you could call it, she would hang out with anyone. She was literally the most mature one in our grade.

The first time we talked she was funny and made lots of jokes. And I just knew we were gonna be friends. At that time I only saw a friend and nothing more. In middle school people saw her as more. Almost all of us had reached the early years of """Adult Hood""" which was really hitting puberty. Which meant having to be there through all the mood swings, pimples, heartbreaks, cramps, and any other possible girl thing. Which was both tiring, yet a learning experience.

At the same time, a lot of guys wanted to date Zoe. But Zoe was smart. She didn't just go off with the first guy that asked her out. She saw who she was gonna pick. Throughout all middle school she only had 4 boyfriends. Which wasn't a lot at our school.

Our group thought middle school dating was stupid. None of us were fully mature yet. Or had the freedom to go anywhere for dates. Our group meaning our closest friends: Me, Zoe, Calum, and Chloe. But out of the 4 of us, me and Zoe were the closest. Lots of people were jealous of the relationship we had. Mostly guys, because only few people got to see her in a bathing suit.

And now? Zoe has a boyfriend, Brock. Big guy, plays basketball and football. Your typical white boy really. Him and Zoe have been dating for 3 weeks now. I don't understand why though. Zoe really usually only goes for smart guys. And guys who haven't dated half the seniors in town. She told me "She was trying out something new" when I questioned her. It was between 10th grade and now when I started developing a "Crush" but it wasn't really a crush. It was just she seemed prettier. And we're friends so I don't want anything weird happening and I don't want our friendship to be ruined.

We entered inside my house and headed straight to the couch.

"Are you guys playing video games or?" Zoe asked raising her eyebrow.

"Actually we were thinking of watching a movie" Calum said placing a CD in the DVD player.

"Which one?" She asked. I closed the door behind me.

"The Incredibles" I answered. She squealed. The Incredibles was her favorite movie. Me and Calum headed to the kitchen to get a snack. As Zoe got comfortable on the couch. I set the microwave for the popcorn.

I headed back into the living room. As Calum rummaged through the pantry for food.

"So Brock" I said, trying to start a conversation.

"He's nice" She said, "and really funny. You guys should hang out" she insited.

"Really?" I said not sounding amused.

"What do you not like him?" She laughed. I really didn't know if I like him or not. I didn't know the boy, but I did know enough to lable him a player.

"I don't know him that well"

"Well you should get to know him, you'll love him" She said, I wasn't so sure I would.

The microwave started to beep. I jogged to the kitchen and carefully pulled it out. Calum was leaning by the sink eating some chips.

"You'll love him" He laughed. I shook my head and laughed.

"I don't think so" I poured the popcorn into a bowl. Even if I did know him, why should I like him. I didn't have to like everyone she dated. None of us did. Why should I hang out with him? It bothered me when people tried to get me to know someone I knew I wasn't gonna like so what was the point. Why did she care so much about it? Why did I? I was overthinking it. And I was getting a bit mad. Calum and I headed back to the living room. As we heard the movie starting.

I took my seat right next to Zoe, which had a perfect view of the TV. Calum sat in the couch left to ours. We all got settled in.

It was nice and quiet until Zoe's phone started ringing. She reached from beside her. I got a good look at who was calling. Brock. They were away from each other for a good 20 minutes and he was already calling. It wasn't even like there was an ocean separating both of them. Zoe got up and headed into the kitchen to answer. I placed my feet up on the couch and laid down. Calum did the same.
