Zoës POV
I hadn't seen my parents in quiet a long time and I was missing them. And I will be going off to college soon giving us less time to see each other. It was times like this is I wished they weren't doctors. Most kids would do anything to be alone at home most the time, but it gets a little tiring and lonely. I had to live most of my middle school and all of my high school years cleaning, shopping, cooking and living on my own. Thankfully I didn't have to pay any bills
I sat in the car deciding what I should do now. Ashton was at the movies, Calum and Chloe were doing god knows what right now. As I pulled out of the driveway I decided to go and get some Chinese food. Lots and lots of Chinese food just for me. There was something about it that really filled a hole up both in my stomach and my heart. The restaurant was almost empty, except for the one person that was in line ordering. No one really stayed inside to actually eat most people ordered take out. Probably because the owner was really rude and no one could stand her but the employes. Actually I don't think even her employes, which was also her family, couldn't stand her. They were lucky it was an authentic Chinese food restaurant or no one would come. I walked in and my stomaches growled so loud I swear everyone in there heard. The guy ordering his food turned around to look at who just walked in.
"Zoë, hi" the very familiar voice greeted me.
"Hi..." I walked slowly inside, mentally yelling at myself for craving Chinese food.
"Glad to see you're..er... doing fine" Chris shuffled his feet nervously, "I mean even though its only been like two days"
"Yeah I got over it pretty quick" I rudely replied. I really didn't mean to be so rude, but it just came out and I instantly regretted it. Even though he had hurt me horribly I don't think I should've been rude. Most people would think I'm crazy for that but it's just how I am.
"I really sorry Zoë, I'm really really sorry" He apologised again for like the thousandth time.
"That's not gonna change what you did, Chris" I told him.
"I know, but I wish there was a way to make it up to you. By now I'm willing to do anything," Chris began walking towards me, and the kitchen staff had basically stopped what they were doing just to watch our little dramatic scene that was unfolding in front of all of them. At some point I had blocked them all out and it felt like it was only me and Chris, no staff no owner. Just me and him.
"Don't please" I whispered, "stop wasting your time on this, it's not worth it. I'm not worth it"
"But you are..." His forehead was pressed against mine, and our lips inches away from one another. My heart began to race, I couldn't fall again, after I had finally gotten myself up. His eyes searched for mine, and I didn't know what his next move would be.
"Boy! You're food is ready" The owner called Chris, he didn't turn around, we just stayed there like he didn't hear them. The bitter old lady was impatiently waiting for him to get his food and get out. Without saying anything to me, he grabbed his food and got out. I don't know what I was expecting to hear from him, but I was oddly hoping he'd say something. I walked toward the counter and quickly ordered my food.
"Whatever happened between you and that boy he's really sorry, its all in his eyes." The owner told me, and I looked up. I was in the middle of reading the cover of one of the pamphlets she had on a small rack.
"He must really love, I have seen a lot of things happen in this restaurant, but none of them had said it and sound like they are really sorry and that they really loved that person" She said, and I swear I saw her smile before turning away to go back into the kitchen. I grabbed the plastic bag that contained my food and left, the bell on the door ringing to announce someone was exiting or entering. In the car, I thought about what the owner said about him loving me. Chris couldn't possibly love me, I was one of his many one night stands. There was no room for love there. My parents still weren't home after I was hoping they'd appear tonight. I turned on the TV in the living room and sat on the floor, in the small space between the coffee table and the couch. I couldn't focus on what was happening in the show, my mind was to busy racing around. One thought leading to another. A good thought after a bad, a bad thought after a good. I started dangerously over thinking a lot of things, and eating quicker. I tried to focus on the TV once again, this time I could. They were giving the Boy Meets World episode where Cory goes back in time, which was one of my favourite episodes. I phone vibrated beside me, I turned it over and Ashton's name was on the screen. I opened the text message.
