Not a Fairytale

Just as I thought...

"Ms. Lange?" The doctor asked before Danny carefully grabbed both of Jessica's hands and pulled her up. "Thank you darling!" She whispered before they followed the doctor.

"So you're 13 weeks right?" The doctor asked while he looked down at some papers folded in his hands, before he looked at Jessica with big eyes. Danny carefully grabbed Jessica's hand while they looked over at the doctor "Yes... is something wrong?" Jessica asked, because of the look the doctor was giving her. The doctor smiled before he helped Jessica lay down on the bed "No, not at all, it's just by looking at the size of your stomach, it looks like your around.. well I've would say 17 maybe even 18 week!" He said with a little laugh, making Jessica look down at her belly with concerned eyes, before she quickly looked up at Danny with an angry expression on her face. Thinking about the conversation, they had about it earlier. "Well I have noticed that.... Heh, I can't really hide it anymore....!" Jessica said with an unsecure voice, before she carefully placed her hands on her belly and made circular motions with her fingers, before the doctor asked her to pull up her shirt.

The doctor placed cold jelly on top of her swollen abdomen, which made goosebumps appear on her arms and chest. In a slow movement she placed a scanner on top of the jelly, and then moved it further down, and then tried to find the right spot, making Jessica squeeze Danny's hand hard. The doctor pushed the scanner into the side of her belly, trying to find the heartbeat, something he did fast, after about 5 seconds. It was strong heartbeats, and it made Jessica's eyes fill up with tears. The doctor started moving the scanner carefully back and forth, and it became even easier to see the baby when they looked over at the screen beside Jessica.

It became harder and harder for Jessica to keep her tears inside, she just felt so many emotions seeing the life growing inside of her. And it was for a fact a baby now too, because the last time Jessica was there it only looked like a little peanut, now it was a baby... their baby...

Danny looked at the screen with big eyes, and he had a hard loving grip around Jessica's small hand. "....Tha...That's our baby?" He was almost stuttering, while he was having a huge smile on his face. Jessica nodded while tears came down her cheeks "That's our baby Danny..... we have made that little baby.... Can you believe it?" Jessica said with a soft but yet high-pitched voice.

Danny's eyes were glued to the screen, so Jessica carefully squeezed his hand, making him turn his attention over to her with a big smile on his mouth. "Oh, Jessie, this is amazing.... That's our little baby.... Oh my god... this is fantastic!" Danny said with an excited voice, as if he didn't believed what they were telling him. Jessica laughed when she saw how excited he was, and it made her heart warm to see Danny like that... he really wanted this. Maybe he was able to be a great guy, a great husband, and most importantly a great father.

Danny ran his fingers through his silver hair, before he placed his big hand behind Jessica's neck, and slowly leaned towards her and placed a soft kiss on her lips "I can't believe this" Danny whispered before he kissed her again.

The doctor continued to move the scanner lower down, before a little laugh escaped his lips, which made both Jessica and Danny turn their attention over to him. He had a huge smile on his lips, before he opened his mouth to talk "Well just as I thought..." He smiled. Jessica cleared her throat before she tried to get more comfortable. "Huh, what...what do you mean?" She asked concerned, following up with Danny asking "Is something wrong? Is the baby okay?" He asked with a wrinkle on his forehead. The doctor looked at them with a little smile before he continued, "The babies are absolutely fine, and healthy!" He said with a little grin, making Jessica breathe, not being aware that she held her breath. "Thank god......!!" Danny whispered while he carefully stroked Jessica's upper arm, and they smiled at each other....before Jessica's smile suddenly faded away, and she realized what the doctor just said...
