Luke, Ashton, and Michael rushed Calum's phone to Dr. Stevens' office with the note that Calum had left on it.
"Boys, what's wrong?" he asked when they barged into his office without knocking.
Ashton handed over Calum's cell phone, showing the doctor the note that read: it was my dad. His number is in my contacts.
"What's this? Is this from Calum?" Dr. Stevens asked with wide eyes.
"Yes, it is. His dad was the one to do all of this to him. I'm sure we all guessed it to begin with, but now it's proof right?" Ashton asked frantically.
"We took a screenshot of this just in case something were to happen and the note got lost," Michael added.
"Well, this is fantastic. Every time we call the number in his emergency contacts list or get the police to go to Calum's house, no one answers or is home. Maybe he'll answer if we call from Calum's phone because he knows the number, then police can track down where he is from there," the doctor said.
"Thank you so much, but where will Calum go after this? I don't really thing he'd do well in foster care or adoption centers," Michael asked concerned.
"Do you think your mom would let him stay with you?" Ashton asked.
Michael nodded and bit his lip. "I'll ask. I'm almost positive she'll say yes though."
"Well boys, thank you for this evidence. And I meant to tell you earlier, Calum has been getting better fairly quickly, so after he's been on suicide watch for maybe three more days at the least, he'll be able to leave. After he's out, however, he will have to go through a lot of police questioning," Dr. Stevens informed them.
The three boys nodded and thanked him before leaving and heading back to Calum's room. Michael stayed outside to call his mom about letting Calum stay with them when he's released. Luke and Ashton went back inside Calum's room.
They entered and found Calum now sleeping in his hospital bed.
Luke walked over and sat beside him, running his fingers through the boy's dark colored hair. Calum stirred and sighed, scooting closer to the blonde.
"Don't worry, babe. You won't have to worry about your dad anymore after this is all over. I promise," Luke whispered to him.
He, Ashton, and Michael were going to make sure that promise came true.
