Toby Grier; Vampire
"Dad, I'm so sorry! I-I just...I just couldn't resist! Please don't be mad at me. I'll take care of the baby all by myself. I'll take it on walks, I'll feed and water it every day, I'll make sure it stays out of trouble! So sorry!-"
"Toby! Toby, hon, come here."
I look down at the baby human cradled in my arms. She's got dark, curly brown hair with piercing blue eyes. She has two front teeth, no bigger than sprinkles, and long, long eyelashes.
I walk toward my dad, to where he sits cradled in the crook of a thin branch. He pats his lap for me to sit, and so I do.
After wrapping both arms around Eliza and me, he rocks us back and forth, not worrying about falling off of the tree.
"Dad, I'm-"
"Toby. Shh."
I sigh. "But--"
"Toby, let me tell you a story. Around two hundred years ago, I met your mother, who was vibrant, and happy with what she was. It changed the way I was. Now, around fifty years later we got married. And about twenty years after that, after we weren't so wild with love, I wanted a child. Now, I understood the danger. Your mother could not have her own child, because she wasn't born a vampire. Or so I'd thought. Anyway, off topic. I told your mom I wanted a baby, and she was...not happy. She questioned whether she was good enough for me. That's off topic as well...Toby, what I'm saying is that what you told Ashley is true. We'll keep Eliza."
"Dad...are you sure?"
"Toby, stop. You just go and deal with your friends for now, okay? We'll keep the baby safe."
"Okay. But one more thing." I unfasten the necklace Sammi had given me and wrap it around Eliza's neck. She giggles. "Dad, make sure the thing doesn't choke her, but it keeps her safe. Don't take it off."
"Oh, Toby, I have a necklace from your grandma Eleanor that looks just like that! Here..." Out of his pocket he pulls a silver chain necklace with a sizable emerald, which does look a lot like the one Sammi gave to me. "Where it?" He offers.
"Sure. Thanks." I fasten it around my neck before saying goodbye to them both.
"Be back soon, Tobster."
"Bye, Dad."
As I reach the school, six miles away, I catch sight of Sammi and Ashley in the parking lot.
"Toby!" Ashley calls, her hands cupped around her mouth.
"Hey, bitches. What's up?" I say when I reach their sides. And only then do I see the panic the their eyes.
"Sammi needs to ask us something. What is it, Sammi?" Ashley asks. Her eyes flicker around, frantic.
"What wrong, Ashley?" I whisper.
"Nothing." She snaps at me in regular tone, but her voice breaks. "Sammi. Spit it out."
Sammi looks hurt, but gets on with it.
"I need you to help me. Remember those half breed witches? Yeah, I need your help with them. Have you got your necklaces?"
"Yes," Ashley and I say at the same time.
"Then let's go."

Hey! Sorry it's not as literate as normal, but I've been out of practice, and I'm not about to start over now;) Hope ya liked it! Now it's Seaker's turn.
