It has been about a week since I've joined Elite. I knew this would be a challenge from the minute we started dancing. It certainly made my life a literal living hell, but no one told me I would pretty much be fighting to the death to get on our choreographer's good side.

After this exhausting class is over, I would proudly be able to march around the entire academy and claim my survival. Five more minutes, Chlo. Hang in there.

Just as I was about to lose a limb from this massacre, Mr. Kurt dismisses the class.

"Great job today, dancers. See you bright and early tomorrow morning." He waves us away and walks out rather gracefully.

That's the cool thing about dancers. No matter what you're doing, you look graceful doing it.

From my peripheral vision, I see Matthias walk up close behind me, until I lose sight of him.

"I don't understand why we've got an all-day rehearsal tomorrow. Don't you think it's ridiculous?" He leans his back against the wall in front of me.

I scrunch my nose, as if I had smelt a pungent smell. "It's outrageous, if you ask me." I sling my dance bag across my shoulder and begin taking steps towards the door.

Matthias pushes off the wall and trails behind me. "Elite Dance is pretty hard to be a part of and excel in." He says behind me and I nod.

"So...are you thinking about quitting?" His words made me stop in my tracks. I turn around shove him as hard as I can, though it didn't really do much.

"You have such little faith in me." I frown and continue walking back to my dorm.

Matthias recovers from the damage I inflicted with ease, quickly catching up to me once again.

"Hey," He laughs. "Chlo, it's—"

"It's Chloe, with the long 'e' sound." I correct before letting him continue.

"Anyways, Chloe, it was just a joke." He gives my arm a little punch, then turns to go to his dorm in the other direction.

I watch him turn the corner, sighing in defeat. I just have to accept that boys won't ever grow up. Especially that particular one.

I lay silently on my bed, looking up at the ceiling. Somewhere even farther than the stars, the clouds, and the atmosphere were my parents. They're in heaven now, and there's nothing I can do to change that. I can only be thankful that they are in a safe place.

When I was little, my parents would take me outside and we'd lie down on the lawn in the front yard. We always went during the night, so the stars would shine brightly above us.

Counting them was useless though I always tried, thinking that I'd finally count them all in one night.

I remember one specific night with my mother vividly. Little did I know it would be one of the last times I'd see her...

"Mommy?" I turn my head to the left and search for my mommy's beautiful, brownie-colored eyes.

"Yes, baby?" She answers me, but her eyes remain focused on the countless number of stars.

"Do you love me?" She eventually manages to peel her eyes off the mesmerizing stars and look back at me.

"Of course I do."
